Week 6 Player of the Week Candidates

By Frank Vajcner

Each week, I will go through the box scores of all of our teams and pick four players whom I will turn to you, the people, to determine our Player of the Week. Go over to our Twitter/X page to vote: @FNVictors

There are a lot of choices in a given week, so narrowing them down to four is a challenge in itself. If you have anyone in particular to nominate, hit me up on Twitter (that will actually help me out more, as my Friday nights are busy with officiating).

You can then vote in our poll on X to determine the final outcome.

Without further ado…

Brian Booms, RB, Flat Rock: Booms continued to rewrite the record books at Flat Rock in a 49-21 win over Milan. He carried the ball 25 times for 253 yards, and broke his own school record with six touchdowns. Booms also ran for a two-point conversion to account for 38 of the Rams’ 49 points.

Izaiah Wright, RB, Carlson: Wright rang up 219 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries as Carlson outlasted Trenton 28-23. The win also avenged a playoff loss from last season.

Luke Beaudrie, QB, Jefferson: Beaudrie turned in a performance that was reminiscent of his big brother, Noah. The younger Beaudrie rang up 231 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 28 attempts, and also added 73 yards passing as Jefferson knocked off Grosse Ile 28-25 for their first win of the season, and snapped a 14-game Huron League losing streak.

Nathan Pinkava, RB, Riverview: Pinkava may have only carried the ball six times, but he made the most of them. The junior rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-13 win over SMCC.

Honorable Mention: Dean Thomas, RB, Ida; Jack Mills, RB, Airport; Braiden Whitaker, WR, Dundee; Jake Iott, RB, Whiteford; Ian Adams, RB, Riverview

  • Question to everyone.
Why didn’t Boom run the football last Year!!!

    Come on. Someone tell me.

    • He did, led team in rushing. Last year we had different team. Had Salazar and Lannon who were awesome receivers. We were learning who we were. Remember the previous season we only won 2 games and season before No wins.

Last year we discovered we had a passing attack. This year everyone team knows it and prepares for it. As teams gear up to stop the pass our running game kicks in. It really is a perfect blend. Booms is a stud and Junge can throw it. When teams try to stop the pass they can’t handle Booms. When try to stop the run can’t stop the pass. Add in a O line that gained 20 lbs each and has pride to protect the QB and block for Booms. The results are Booms with big yardage to answer your question. BTW he also hit the weights hard this year and is as tough as nails.

Flat Rock has a well rounded TEAM that only cares about winning and not personal stats. That’s why there doing so well.

      That’s the secret sauce.

  • Like the Heisman it's all about the skilled flashy guys. OL/DL win games and championships. At least acknowledge the Lineman on here.

    • You obviously haven't been paying attention. We acknowledge the trenches all the time. Certainly more than most media outlets.
