The Falcons of Monroe SMCC are coming off a successful 2022 campaign, finishing 6-6 with a D 7 District Title. We last saw the Falcons bowing out in a Regional Final to Napoleon 14-7. In his 9th year, Head Coach Adam Kipf (61-27), will once again lead the Green and Gold. Brock Cousino – LB – 72 Tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 4 pass break ups
Jason “JJ” Hawkins – OL
Key Contributors: Ian Foster 11 QB/RB/DB, saw plenty of action at DB, Drew Harris 11 RB/DB- Saw considerable action at the FB spot in 2022. Ethan DeLand 12 TE/DL, Joel Treece 11 TE/DL.
Coach Kipf’s Thoughts: “We are young and inexperienced this year. There are not many reps under our belts yet. We will have to grow up quickly in order to be successful. There is more talent in the Huron League this year and it will be a tough sled as always. Each week will be a test. We are getting competition at multiple spots during practice. Our backfield will be talented but our offense will go as our offensive line goes. On defense, we have more experience and speed. We have to replace a lot of key players from the previous season. We will have our work cut out for us this year as we grow but we are eager to work towards success.”
Coach Kipf sees Airport, Riverview and Flat Rock as the top teams in the Huron League.
FNV Outlook: The Falcons will need to find some chemistry amongst the many new starters, especially on the offensive line. There will be plenty of new faces taking their first varsity snaps. Many of those underclassman. The schedule does not allow much time to gain such chemistry, as they open with D6 powerhouse, Michigan Collegiate. Who will step up? Who will take the lead? Coach Kipf is looking for those answers, as he take his team through the gauntlet that is the Huron League. I do see the Falcons making the playoffs(playoffs?!, you’re talking playoffs?!). I hear ya Coach, but will the Falcons limp in or will they gain their stride as the season moves along. Many questions right now, what are the answers?

CC has some nice skill players…but the oline has to come together real quick to make some holes…or it will be a long, long season
I may have made the preview sound a bit bleak. There is plenty of talent on the SMCC roster. It just needs to meld together quickly.
SMCC played everyone on their sideline at the scrimmage, how are you going to base how they do off that unless you are a parent or a coach? They dominated Mason and Melvindale although I would say Ida was the better team.
The best thing for a young team like SMCC who is starting as many sophomores as they are is to say how bad they are. I think they will have a hard time stopping Warren Collegiate but will get better every week. A good young group of kids along with a veteran coaching staff will eventually pay off.
You are probably one of the alumni who is fundraising for the school in Newport, its ok :)
What’s going on in Newport ?
come on bruh... you know cc will win some games and make it into the playoffs like last year and win another district title and probably host a regional. lay off the young bloods and truzz
I’ve loved seeing the coaches give feedback to you guys.
I was at the scrimmage last night. They have a long way to go.. O line for past 3 years doesn’t get off the ball. I see the Falcons only wining 1 game this year.
