The Monroe Trojans are under new leadership in Kyle Reed. Coach Reed has spent over 2 decades as an assistant at various stops, and is eager to begin his head coaching career at the place he calls home. We last saw the Trojans miss the playoffs in 2022 with a 3-6 record. Along side Coach Reed are his assistants: Alex Russo (DC), Travon Hamilton, Joe Hammond, Jody McCollum, Drake Minton, Dave Reed, Andy Marchese (Director of Football Operations).

Thoughts from the Coach: “Overall, the kids have been working hard and buying in since the first day of me on the job. I have coached for 23 years, with all but three of the years at Monroe. (2002 & 2003 @ Livonia Clarenceville and 2012 @ NB Huron). I’ve been blessed to work under some great coaches and alongside some great mentors through the years. Now I am excited to begin this next chapter of my coaching career and I can’t imagine coaching anywhere other than Monroe. I believe in these kids and right now it’s about getting them to believe in themselves. As for expectations, my staff and I are not rebuilding, we’re hitting the reset button.”
FNV Outlook: It’s never easy in year one of a new system on both sides of the ball. Seems like I have said that too often regarding the Trojan’s situation in recent years. Having to start over can take a toll. However, I think Monroe has found their man in Coach Reed. Will it be easy to get where they want to be, competing for the SEC crown, no. Time to “reset”, with a back to basics approach. The schedule sets up well, as it is back loaded. Confidence should be gained early, as Saline, Bedford and Riverview make up the back half of the slate. I look for Monroe to make a push for the playoffs in 2023, as they look to gain stability moving forward.
Coach Reed sees Saline, Bedford and Dexter as top teams in the SEC RED.
