Week 2 Power Rankings

Here are the week 2 power rankings. Not much movement, but Flat Rock finds themselves cracking the top 10 while Huron falls out.

  1. Riverview (1-0), Riverview showed they were a solid team again this year with a strong come-from-behind road victory over Divine Child.
  2. Bedford (1-0), The Kicking Mules took care of business over an over-matched Utica Ford.
  3. Whiteford (1-0), The Bobcats flexed their muscle in week 1 and showed why they are one of the favorites in Division 8 this year.
  4. Airport (1-0), solid win on the road for the Jets over a good Ida team.
  5. Carlson (1-0), The Marauders ho-hummed their way with a workman-like victory over Downriver rival Lincoln Park.
  6. Milan (1-0), The Big Reds show that they just reload with an impressive road thumping of Berkley.
  7. Ida, (0-1), No shame in losing a close game against Airport. Streaks moved up in the rankings.
  8. Monroe (0-1), The short-handed Trojans lose at home to a solid Jackson team but have some work to do.
  9. SMCC (0-1), The Falcons were thumped by a special Michigan Collegiate team. Speedy RB Cole Jondro should help when he returns to the lineup.
  10. Flat Rock (1-0), Rams crush Division 2 Melvindale on the road.

  • Bedford’s win wasn’t as dominant as I expected, but they did fumble once and ford capitalized, and they were inside the 10 yard line at the end of the game. They should dominate pioneer next week, and we’ll start to see how good they really are when they play Dexter next week. Bedford top 3 rushers did have well over 10 yards per carry, which was impressive, and they held ford to negative rushing yards.

  • Grosse Ile still can command the Huron League with a win this week like I have been saying all offseason.

  • Take that “Milan Step Dad”!! The Jets are back!!! We’ve had some close ones over the last few years. Is this finally the year??!!

    • While I highly disagree with Milan being at 6 instead of at least 3, I have to admit that I would probably agree with airport over Milan. At least for now of course. Not really sure how Flat rock is below SMCC after they got blown out.

      • Not everything is black and white really.

Melvindale is not the same caliber opponent as a Collegiate.

While CC did lose 28-3, it was 6-3 at halftime.
Lets see how Flat Rock does this week.
