Monroe Jefferson is coming off a 1-6 season in 2020. The Bears will look to improve on that mark under Head Coach Gene Gennoe, now in his 4th season at the helm.
Staff: Nate Mills, Nick Hemwall, Jason Tipton, Greg Tackett
Returning letter winners: 10
Returning starters: 6
Offense: Ryan Gennoe QB, Alex Mansfield OT.
Defense: Niko Costas LB, Noah White LB, AJ Ferraiuolo DB, Gavin Gelso DB
Players to keep an eye on: Ryan Gennoe QB -102 attempts, 53 completions, 754 yards, Alex Mansfield OT, Niko Costas RB/LB – 49 tackles, Noah White RB/LB -71 tackles, Gavin Gelso WR/DB – 39 tackles, Caden Lamb TE/LB.
Underclassmen: Caden Pridemore RB/DB, Seth Minney WR/OLB, Myles Tackett QB/DB, Nathan Masserant OL/DL, Joey Duvall OL/DL, Kameron Woiderski OL/DL, Malachi Pribyl WR/OLB.
Coaches Thoughts: SMCC, Riverview, Huron, all teams in the Huron League are good. We don’t have a big team numbers-wise, but I really like the players that we have. Just like every coach, I hope that we can stay injury-free.
FNV Outlook: There are some wins to be had for the Bears. The bookend games, Onsted and Northwest, are certainly winnable. Ryan Gennoe behind big ole Alex Mansfield, will have to make big plays from his quarterback spot, if the Bears are to compete in the Huron League in 2021. Playmakers such as Minney and Pridemore, will have to grow up quickly as well. Look for Jefferson to compete week in and week out, bringing Bear pride back to the beach.
