Each week our founder Chris Schultz will give his thoughts about each team in the blog coverage area, as well as, other musings from the mind of a simple Michigan high school football fan.
Well…here we are, less than 10 days away from the first day of practice and I have some early thoughts about each team.
Airport: Last season Cooper Nye was just a freshman piece to the Airport offense. This season, I expect him to be the “Jet” Fuel that propels the plane.
Bedford: The Mules could start the 2021 season with 3 straight wins again, but I doubt that they will close the season with 4 straight losses like 2020.
Carlson: I fully expect a young Landon Grove to open up the offense in Gibraltar this season. They should be fun to watch.
Dundee: The Vikings are 43-50 the last 10 seasons (basically 4-5). There are way too many athletes at that school for average football.
Erie Mason: I’m interested in who will be the QB now that Noah Beaudrie has moved on. Obviously, it will be a downgrade (He was all-state), but the Eagles have talent and should win games.
Flat Rock: I expect my Alma Mater to be much better this season. There is talent over on Seneca, it may be young, but they will be much improved.
Grosse Ile: Odd years haven’t been kind to the Red Devils for the most part during the John Bodner years, but he is one of the best coaches in the Huron League and Downriver area. Nobody does more, with less (players).
Huron: Huron is loaded again at the skill positions, but football is won in the tranches. I wonder what their line play will be like this year.
Ida: The last time I saw Ida, their young team was beating my (ATA) Lakers in the playoffs. I expect big things from the Bluestreaks this season.
Jefferson: The enrollment decline at Jefferson is hurting the Bear’s win/loss success on the field, but they always play hard.
Milan: I love the opener against Michigan Collegiate. That should be a great game!
Monroe: I really hope Monroe can turn the corner this year. It’s been a decade since they beat Saline, but the Trojans are more than capable.
Riverview: I wonder if the Athletic Department at Riverview was tired of Gary complaining about the Pirate’s non-league schedule.
SMCC: This may be taboo, but I fully expect the Falcons to be playing at Ford Field this season. Of course, JLC may have something to say about that.
Summerfield: The Bulldogs may have the weakest non-league schedule in the state, but with all these teams bolting to 8-man football, who else are you supposed to play?
Whiteford: I don’t expect a 3-6 or even a 4-5 season from the Bobcats, but those records could get them in the playoffs in Division 8.
We (Gary, Frank and myself) look forward to the season getting started. Hopefully, we don’t deal with any of this pandemic garbage again this year. Look for our typical coverage this season with; articles, videos and weekly podcasts. We hope you enjoy it! Remember these are, “My thoughts, not yours” (well maybe they’re yours too).

Should be a fun season as always. Can't wait for Airport-Ida week 1. Hopefully no covid problems this year. Frank Chris and Gary keep up the great work!
I'm looking forward to that game as well. I'm thinking it could go down to the last few plays. I'm thinking the same thing for a lot of the other games especially DC at Riverview and Almont at SMCC. Time will tell and we will see which scores are closest. I'm ready for some football!
Gary Chris and Frank.. it has to be Almont and Smcc…
We will be sending out our camera man to 1 game a week to produce a highlight montage. Where should we send him for week 1?

Just to let you know its great to hear from you guys again. Yes HS football is coming quick. I'm looking forward to the 2021 season. So as of now fans will be able to attend? I see there is a busy week 1 as there are games on Thursday and Friday. I may even attend a Saturday game if I can find one in the area. Chris will you let us know when and where the scrimmages are? Thanks
I'd like to see Summerfield play CC for that wk9 game?? I really wanted the Bedford v. CC but that won't happen now.
