It’s the first ever meeting between Milan and Williamston on the gridiron, with a Regional Championship on the line. The Hornets are vying for their 4th Regional Title since 2010 , while Milan is looking for their first Regional Crown in school history.

Dual threat QB Cole McElvany does it all running and passing for Head Coach Jesse Hoskins and company. The FNV Player of the year has a strong supporting cast in RBs Jett Isaacs and Ethan Griffin, as well as WRs Kendrick McBride and Connor Dessellier. Names to watch on defense are Dylan Beck, Noah Cartwright, and Kaleb Monahan up front, as well as JJ Stines, Griffin, and McElvany. Isaacs is also an ace on special teams as the kicker and return man.

Williamston Hornets (8-1, 15th playoff appearance, 14-14 playoff record)

Won by forfeit vs Owosso

Defeated Lake Fenton 35-21 in the Distict Semis

Defeated Battle Creek Pennfield 28-12 in the District Final

Head Coach Steve Kersten brings his Hornets into this contest with a stingy defense and diversified offense. Senior Luke Mahaney will be taking the shotgun snaps in the “check with me” offensive play calling style(much like Milan). Igniting the Ground game will be senior RB Sullivan Sparks.. On the receiving end of Mahaney will be Senior, Central Michigan commit, Cade Conley, Senior Elija Douglass and Senior Jacob Dunkel. Defensively the Green and White are lead by Junior Zach Painter, Senior Avery Lott and Senior Nate Holcomb.

FNV Thoughts:

This has all the makings of an outstanding game. Two very solid football programs who appear to be evenly matched. This is a game that should very well come down to the very end. Plenty of play makers to make this an exciting matchup as well. As in most tightly contested battles, whoever turns the ball over the least, will have the edge. How either team will be affected by the layoff might be a factor as well. Whoever can get back to their winning ways the quickest, will find themselves on top and one step closer to Ford Field.
