River Rouge @ New Boston Huron

River Rouge enters the Division 3 District Final at Huron with a 6-1 record while the Chiefs counter with a 7-1 record. This is the 3rd all-time meeting between the two schools as Huron has won the previous (2007, 2008) two contests. Rouge defeated Riverview 38-20 in the district semi-final while Huron defeated Allen Park 30-14.

Huron

Huron is having their best year since 2014 when the Chiefs advanced all the way to the Division 3 semi-final game against eventual state champion Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. The offense is led by a pair of seniors; QB/WR Chase Molnar and RB Tycen Stevens. Returning senior starting QB Austin Myers has been out with an injury since week three’s 26-7 victory over SMCC. Myers dressed last week, but did not see action. Junior playmaker Issac Smith had another big game last week in the win over Allen Park.

Huron’s defense stepped up big last week in the win over Allen Park by forcing 6 Jaguar turnovers. DE Rory Callahan has had a big sophomore year while junior DB Matthew Williams is an excellent cover corner.

River Rouge

River Rouge is led by Western Michigan commit, Mareyohn Hrabowski. The 6-3, 205 lb QB is a Pro-style QB that leads a balanced offense. Hrabowski was the key offensive playmaker in last week’s win over Riverview. Jalen Johnson and Chance Moore anchor a massive offensive line.

The defense at Rouge is solid as the Panthers have pitched 4 shutouts this season. The defense features play-makers Ronnie Smith Jr., Jalen Holly, and senior safety, Armarion Smith; who has committed to Cincinnati. The defensive line is strong and is led by Central Michigan commit Pius Odjugo (6-3, 320lb).

FNV Outlook: The Chiefs find themselves in a can’t lose situation. A defeat at the hands of the defending state champion Panthers is expected by everyone from around the state. A win and the Chiefs are suddenly thrust into the spotlight and given as good a chance as anyone in division 3 to win the State Championship.
