Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Friday Night Victors will be honoring those 2020 graduating seniors who played for one of the FNV teams that played Michigan High School Football during the 2019 football season.
Grosse Ile’s John Blanzy was a 3-time 1st team All-Huron League linebacker, a 2-time All-State (MHSAA & Detroit News), a 2-time Detroit All West, a 2-time News Herald Dream team member, the Friday Night Victors 2018 Defensive Player of the Year, a Huron League champion, a Colvin cup champ, and the 2019 Grosse Ile 2019 team MVP. He set the Grosse Ile single-season tackle record with 148 and finished with 396 career tackles.
John graduated with 3.877 and was the Tissot scholarship recipient at GI. He will be attending Northwood University, playing football on an athletic and academic scholarship while majoring in cybersecurity management.
