Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Friday Night Victors will be honoring those 2020 graduating seniors who played for one of the FNV teams that played Michigan High School Football during the 2019 football season.
James played four years of football at SMCC, splitting the time between JV and varsity. After earning a starting spot on varsity in his junior year as an offensive tackle, James moved to guard halfway through his senior year. That move proved to be a perfect fit for both him and the team, which earned a State Championship in the 2019 season. James was named Second Team All Huron League two years in a row, and also earned Huron League All-Academic honors as a senior.
In addition to football, James also played four years varsity hockey, earning Academic All-State honors in the 2019-20 season, and four years varsity lacrosse, serving as team captain in his (very brief) senior season.
Outside of sports, James is a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society, and participated in the Kentucky Service Trip. James, who was recently awarded a Michigan Society of Professional Engineers scholarship, will attend the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in the fall to major in computer science.

Thank you, FNV staff, for doing this, and for all you do to keep our players motivated and showcased throughout the year!
Class Act! Love this kid! People looked at James and questioned his abilities- I would just smile and watch him lead by example and drive! He will be very successful in life! One of several reasons I love coaching! One of the most intelligent lineman in the history of SMCC. When he wasn’t busy obtaining studying or playing sports- he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity! Class Act! Coach P
Thanks, Coach!! :) We appreciate YOU and your role in helping him become a state champion, from 6th grade football to senior year!
