Here are the candidates for the Week 5 Player of the Week.
Christian Brown, RB, Bedford: Brown is a regular on the POTW posts. The senior rushed for 298 yards and four touchdowns in the Mules’ 42-7 win over Ann Arbor Huron.
Tristen Hines, QB, Milan: Hines has found a home in our POTW posts. This week was just another day at the office, as he rushed for 210 yards and four touchdowns in the Big Reds’ 33-8 dismantling of Riverview. Milan is 5-0 for the first time since 2013.
Jacob Pac, RB, Airport: On a rainy night where nothing much was working for the Jets’ offense, they turned to their workhorse running back in the fourth quarter. Pac scored both of the Jets touchdowns in the final quarter, in addition to ringing up 159 yards on the night in Airport’s 14-0 win over Jefferson. The Jets are 4-1 for the first time since 2011, and have won three straight for the first time since 2012.
Joe Pizzo, RB/K, Grosse Ile: Pizzo was the difference maker for the Red Devils in a 41-38 overtime win over New Boston Huron. The junior rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns, caught a TD pass, kicked all five of his PATs, and went 2-for-3 on field goals, including the game-winner in overtime to give the Devils their first win of the season
Owen Sampson, RB/DB, Ida: With the Blue Streaks facing a must-win game against Erie Mason on Saturday, they turned to their sophomore sensation to get things going. Sampson answered the bell by rushing for 187 yards and three touchdowns on the day. He also recorded a first quarter interception to set up an early scoring drive for Ida early on in a 56-44 win. The win kept Ida’s playoff hopes alive.
SMCC Offensive Line: There were Falcon fans who asked why the offensive line gets no mention? Well, after the Falcons rolled up 424 yards and five TDs on the ground in a 44-6 thrashing of Flat Rock, the credit goes to the following gentlemen: LT Connor Bogdanski, LG Zach Patterson, C Brendan Sloan, RG Jamie Hawkins, RT Luke Bilan, as well as TEs Nieko Castiglione and Jackson Strube. Bogdanski also had a fumble recovery.

It takes a whole team to play football!! Great job Airport! Keep up the good work!
Anyone that wants to post, calling Chris and myself every name under the book... put your name to it, and I will post it. Otherwise, an anonymous keyboard tough guy you will remain.
Owen Sampson has been doing a great job on both offense and defense this year. He is very deserving of being player of the week!
Bogdanksi did not return it for a score lol. He got about 5 yards after he picked it up.
I believe Tristen is An amazing player, but there are also other boys on that team and if it wasn't for those boys he wouldn't be able to make the runs that he does.. when picking from Milan maybe you should look at other boys give them a chance to shine you pick the same one all the time.. we are all so proud of ALL of our boys 5-0!! Go Big REDS!
I would also put more focus or emphasis on who Coach Hoskins praises more than what we do here.
We dont see all the games and often time rely on stats. We do the best we can however to get others in there.
That is very fair.
Who would you nominate as POW from Milan other than Hines?
But it was an amazing 5 yards. Big Frank wrote the POW post. I meant to correct it but forgot. Thanks.
1 of Joey’s 2 field goals was 40 yarder.
That is quite a performance by Pizzo
Absolutely
