The 2018 season was a historic one, as Grosse Ile compiled a 9-1 record that included an undefeated Huron League slate and a League Championship to go with it. The season ended abruptly in the 1st week of the playoffs as the Red Devils were defeated by the Chelsea Bulldogs.
Head Coach: John Bodner
Players to Watch: Johnny Blanzy LB/OL Senior, Josh Zemmin LB/OL Senior, Max Athens WR/DB Senior, Joey Pizzo RB/DB/K Senior, Justin Riggs RB/DB Senior, Nick Lepidi RB/DB Senior
Newcomers to Watch: Nate Brown QB Junior, Keegan Mott WR Junior, Trey Swick RB/LB Junior
Coach’s Thoughts: “We have a very young team that needs to come together quickly to be competitive in the Huron League. We will have many guys getting their opportunity after losing a lot to graduation. Looking forward to seeing what they can do after working hard all off season. Every year is exciting to take a group of guys and try to build a team that can compete week by week. Excited to see what this year brings.”
FNV Outlook: Grosse Ile enters the 2019 season with a target on their back after running the table in 2018 in route to the Huron League championship. The Red Devils have two of the premier defensive players in the league in LB’s Johnny Blanzy and Josh Zemmin. Throw in safety Justin Riggs and you can see why defense will determine how the Islanders fair this season.

Justin Riggs, not josh riggs. Josh is Justin’s younger brother.
Thank you. We were given josh.
For what it’s worth, Pizzo is a Junior, not a senior.
Not according to Coach Bodner, lol. Thank you though!
