Every year FNV picks an offensive and defensive player of the year along with an overall player of the year.
While last year’s FNV Overall Player of the Year, Jalen Johnson (Monroe) has moved on, both of last year’s defensive and offensive Players of the Year return with Grosse Ile’s Johnny Blanzy (LB) and Milan’s Tristen Hines (RB/R/QB) returning for their senior seasons.
Here is a quick watchlist of who we think are Offensive Player of the Year candidates.
Noah Beaudrie QB Erie Mason: Still just a junior, the athletic signal caller enters his 3rd season at the helm for the Eagles. Last year Beaudrie threw for 1,208 yards (8 TD’s) while running for 1,135 yards (13 TD’s).
Christian Brown RB Bedford: The senior RB was an FNV All Blog player in 2018 while running for 1,562 yards and amazing 24 TD’s as the Kicking Mules finished with a 6-5 record.
Ravion Davis QB Flat Rock: The athletic senior rushed for 989 yards (9 TD’s) and threw for another 959 yards ( 11 TD’s) during the 2018 season in which Flat Rock finished 4-5.
Tristen Hines QB Milan: the Eastern Michigan commit played multiple position in 2018 for the Big Reds, but will most likely play QB this season for coach Jesse Hoskins. Hines rushed for 702 yards (10 TD’s), threw for another 102 while also catching 54 passes for 973 yards (11 TD’s).
Ian Stewart QB/R Carlson: The 6-3 athletic Michigan State commit played QB for the Marauders last season while leading Carlson to a 8-2 record and a share of the Downriver League title. Stewart rushed for 533 yards and 6 TD’s while averaging 11 yards per carry in an offense that is predicated on spreading the carries around the backfield.
These are obviously FNV’s thoughts. Let us know if we missed anyone.

Gianio and Sampson from Ida will be two offensive standouts this year in the region.
Williams from Dundee will be good if he stays healthy. Dundee also returns Stoney Buell and Blaze McBee.
Beaudrie from Mason will have 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards passing if their offensive line play improves from last season, he is the best athlete in the LCAA from the few games I saw last year.
Hearing great things about Monroe's QB, Wyatt Head who is flying under the radar right now.
Another kid to watch out for from SMCC is Alex Morgan, hearing great things about him in the backfield from folks in Monroe
didn't Sampson graduate ?
Going along with Erie Mason it'll be interesting to see how they do in their new league going up against Whiteford, Summerfield and so on.
Going along with Gary and you John, the T offense is great if you have a great offensive line and backs that do different things. SMCC will have to fill 2 guard roles, which is big in the T because they are the ones that pull and kick out people. Will have to fill the role of Bryce Iott, the big tight end that just caved people down last year because he was strong and 6 4 240. Coming from CC and playing in that offense, they say the best blockers are the tight ends, they set the tone on the edge for how things will end up. Now, talking about the backs again. Morgan, the very talented full back last year burst onto the scene with 1000+ rushing yards last year. Not your quickest of shiftiest back, but can hit holes with a burst and run you over. Wyatt Bergmoser, is the faster/quicker back in the CC trio. He will juke you and leave you pants hanging at your ankles. Do not be fooled though, he has put on about 10-15 pounds of muscle this year and will run your butt over. Last but finally not least is the Big Man in the back field, Sam the Dream Cousino. Kid as been a star for CC since his sophomore year leading them on defense for 3 years. Sam just switched to half back last year about Wyatt going down with the injury. Cousino is out looking to run someone over, not looking to dance around, looking to run you overrrrr. Cannot wait to see this year for the falcons.
CC Alum,
He’s probably referring to Owen Sampson (Clay’s little brother)
ahhhh thank you frank. didn't know he had a younger brother.
Thanks for the input John. Those players are all on the radar. You mentioned players from 3 teams that run the T. I love the T but the offense is predicated on splitting carries almost evenly between sometimes 4 backs. The top ball carrier might only have 12 carries. That doesn’t however diminish how good those players are.
I would keep an eye on Luke Williams of Dundee. Came on strong in the second half of the season. Here are some stats:
-1,031 all-purpose yards on 92 touches (78 carries for 653 rushing yards, 14 catches for 378 receiving yards)
-10 total touchdowns
-Averaged 114.5 all-purpose yards per game
-Averaged 11.2 yards per offensive touch.
I agree with Gary. Relax, unless you can name other players. That group of players would excel individually on any team we cover.
Jimari Moultrie from Riverview
Thomas Gardner Riverview
Both are top notch talent and Gardner has something to prove after not playing last year
These 2 should have big years and you said name players
Please feel free to name some players that we may have omitted or just flat out don’t know about.
Any sort of player bashing, however back handed, will not be allowed in the comment section. This site is here to promote our student athletes.
Noah is gonna have one heck of a year this year just watch! So is our hole team! We are going far this year
I vote for Elija Araiza as defensive player of the year. He led the team in tackles last year, with 65 total, as a freshman! He's a beast and plays with his whole heart. He believes in #eagle nation and back's his team up completely.
But is he as good as Blaine Modrowski was at Mason? Now there...was a beast!!! What? You never heard of him? Uh oh!!! Mason's defense should be wearing his number on their jerseys!!
also i would not be surprised at the end of the year if one of the options is not SMCC three running backs. CC hasn’t had good of three headed monster since 2014 when they won it all. Granted, they are not as dominating as 2014 backs but will be a load to handle. Speed and strength in favor for the three backs
I could see bergmoser putting his name on this list. Kid is going to come out determined after his season was cut short last year.
It is hard to see Hines not repeat though. Phenomenal athlete. Losing last years quarterback and running back. Hoskins is going to get creative in getting him the ball.
Davis is another fun player to watch and can beat you in so many ways.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a Riverview running back on this last by the end of the year.
people are sleeping on ravion Davis man. That kid kept flat rock in every single game. Like y’all had talked about before. Worst losing record team I’ve seen so far in my career watching high school football. Kid will be the sleeper but hopefully come out on top
