Ida Blue Streaks Schedule Analysis

Next in the schedule analysis series is where Frank graduated from. Can Ida keep their success going? Let’s take a look at the schedule.

Aug 29 Airport

Sept 6 @ Lake Fenton

Sept 13 Columbia Central

Sept 20 @ Dundee

Sept 27 Erie Mason

Oct 4 Hudson

Oct 11 @ Hillsdale

Oct 18 @ Onsted

Oct 25 Blissfield

Gut-check game: Columbia Central. September 16, 2016 was the last time the Blue Streaks recorded a win over the Golden Eagles. The reigning LCAA champs will pay a visit to Hemelgarn Field in Week 3, and if the Streaks want to show that they belong in the LCAA race, a win will be paramount. Special mention to a road trip to Hillsdale in Week 7, as the Hornets have also had Ida’s number in the last two seasons.

Trap game: at Onsted. Even though Ida has won the last seven meetings with the Wildcats, a Week 8 trip to the Irish Hills comes between a road trip to Hillsdale and a visit from Blissfield. The latter of the two figures to be near the top of the conference. Jeff Potter will have to keep his team from looking ahead.

Snoozer: None

Non-con Challenge: The Blue Streaks will make a 75 mile trek to Genesee County to face Lake Fenton in Week 2. The Blue Devils gave the Streaks a battle before Ida prevailed 28-22 last season. Airport also pays a visit to open the season, and the Jets will be an upgrade over Jefferson to open the season.

Notable: This will be the first time Ida and Airport meet on the gridiron since 1956. Oddly enough, that game ended in a 6-6 tie.

Thoughts from Frank: For the last two seasons, we have all wondered when Ida will have a down year. Jeff Potter has managed to keep the Blue Streaks going in the right direction, but is Year 3 going to be a rebuilding year, or another year where Ida just keeps on truckin’? Road trips to Lake Fenton and Dundee could show what Ida is made of. The October portion of the schedule is arduous, so there won’t be much room for error if Ida trips up early on.
