Monroe and Woodhaven have met on the gridiron previously, with the Trojans holding a 5-0 mark in those contests. Woodhaven, coming off a 41-0 drubbing of Southgate Anderson, holds a playoff record of 3-10 and have made the playoffs 9 of the last 12 seasons. Monroe, which dropped it’s week 9 game to Lake Orion 31-24, owns a playoff record of 5-16 and have qualified for the playoffs 5 of the last 8 seasons.
Monroe High Trojans(4-1 Sec Red 2nd place, 6-3 Overall)
Monroe’s success this year is due in main part to it’s offense(29.3 PPG) and the many weapons at coach Notario’s disposal. The offense is led by:
Senior QB Maleik Linton(6’0″ 180 lbs) 448 yards on 99 carries, 33-63 712 yards passing, 7 TD.
Junior RB Jared Banks(5’11” 190 lbs) 1,107 yards on 152 carries, 10 TD.
Senior RB Jalen Johnson(5’9″ 180 lbs) 606 yards on 52 carries, 13 TD.
Plowing the way for the potent ground game are stand-outs:
Senior G, Joe Schnorgerger(6’2 270 lbs)
Senior G, P.J. Brown(6’4″ 290 lbs)
Junior T, Lucas Ellis(6’2″ 230lbs)
Junior T, Armando Flores(6’3″ 275lbs)
Senior T, Noah Beaudrie(6’4″ 190lbs)
Senior C, Ian Senio(6’2″ 240 lbs)
On defense the Trojans are led by:
Senior LB Hayes Brooks(6’0 195 lbs) 89 tackles, 17 for loss.
Junior LB Anthony Harris(6’1″ 180 lbs) 58 tackles, 9 for loss, 5 int, 3 fumble rec.
Senior S Cole Sulfaro(5’10” 170 lbs) 38 tackles, 2 Int, 5 break ups.
Senior LB Jace Clark(5’9″ 175 lbs) 64 tackles, 20 for loss.
The Trojans are 1-3 vs 2018 playoff teams and are fronted by Head Coach Nick Notario.
Woodhaven Warriors(8-1 DRL 1st place tied, 8-1 Overall)
Woodhaven, who shared a Downriver League title with Carlson, got it done on both sides of the ball. The Warriors averaged 36.6 PPG on offense while giving up 13.2 on the defensive side. Woodhaven is big up front and wants to run the ball with it’s physical style of play.
Stand out players for the Warriors:
Senior T, Dorian Wesley(6’4″ 293lbs)
Junior LB, Rhett Stephens(6’0″ 205 lbs)
Sophomore WR, Cortez Gibbs(6’0″ 160 lbs)
Woodhaven is 3-1 vs 2018 playoff teams and led by Head Coach Keith Christnagel
This has the making of an outstanding match-up. One of the best in the Division 1 pre-districts in my opinion. Often times close contests such as this come down to fundamentals and taking care of the football. I personally can’t wait for this one to kickoff. This should be one heck of a game!

@136am. Ooops.......must have been something you drank
A ground and pound team that runs from the spread. You should never give 1 RB the ball 30+ times from the spread.
The OnePlus 6T will Unlock the Speed in many ways.
5:43. Can't quite understand your comment. You said they can't throw and then the very next sentence you said they can throw screens and do play action. FYI, that is throwing the ball.
If you watch there games they can't throw. They can throw screens and do play action that's it. They are a ground an pound team.
Woodhaven is very good. And very well coached. Monroe will have more talent, but like the Saline game, will struggle to get things going offensively.
They do have a lot of threats but using all of them is a different story. One thing that really doesn't make any sense is why Johnson has way less carries than the other backs. I have seen that kid run and he has to be one, if not the fastest kid around this year. I think Banks is a great back also, but they need to be way more balanced in order to make any kind of a playoff run. Good luck Monroe
Surprised Monroe doesn’t throw more
Monroe needs to turn 20# banks loose in this game to win. An please run the ball in the redzone.
