Varsity Athletic Week 4 Players of the Week

Luke Goins, QB, Airport. The senior QB picked up right where
he left off last week, as he threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-7
win over Jefferson. Goins also rushed for 41 yards and a score to cap off a big
night.
Jared Banks, RB, Monroe. After a tough loss to Jackson last
week, the Trojans turned to their ground game. Banks answered the call, as he
rushed for 257 yards and four touchdowns in a 39-7 win over Ann Arbor Skyline.
Kyle Naif and Joe Johnson, RB, Riverview. One week after
being shut down by SMCC, the Pirates’ ground attack got cranking behind their
two stars, Naif and Johnson. The duo combined for 219 yards and four touchdowns
(Naif: 109 yards, TD; Johnson: 110 yards, 3 TDs). Naif also rang up 11 tackles
and an interception on defense.

Ty Eitniear, QB, Whiteford. Eitniear had a hand in four of
Whiteford’s nine touchdowns in a 65-0 rout of Whitmore Lake. The senior rushed
for two scores and passed for two scores.
Alex Longenbarger, DL, Ida. The senior who normally plays at
defensive end was moved inside to defensive tackle by head coach Jeff Potter on
Friday, and the move paid dividends. Longenbarger racked up 16 tackles for the
Blue Streaks in a 20-3 win over Dundee

  • Chris and Gary... GREAT JOB GIVING PLAYERS IN THE AREA EXPOSURE... OPINIONS ARE OPINIONS WHETHER YOU GUYS AGREE WITH THEM OR THEY AGREE WITH YOURS... DON'T LET A COUPLE OF AGGRESSIVE COMMENTS DETOUR WHAT YOU ARE DOONG... PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR THE HURON LEAGUE...TOM AESCHBACKER

P.S. I SAID LAST YEAR THAT I DO NOT DO BLOGS, BUT HERE I AM... GREAT JOB GUYS...

  • You guys need to stop criticizing everything this site does. This site is ran by men who put their time and effort in so you don’t have to wait until Saturday morning papers to get the scores. They do a great job bringing you as accurate of information as they can. If this was my blog I wouldn’t have let it get this far along without shutting down the comments and only posting scores and picks. Be appreciative of the opportunity to be spoon fed this info and chew the fat with the water cooler folks. Great job guys. Never been disappointed with any of your picks or opinions.

  • Hey a lot of kids had great numbers last week an sometimes kids have a great game but the stats doesn't always show it

  • I'm not suggesting any of the mentioned players don't deserve it. I'm curious where you get your info from. For instance, Alex Longenbarger had 16 tackles. Where did that info come from? Are the other kids not getting recognition because only some of the coaches give you guys info? Gary's homeboy, Sam Cousino, had 2 TDs, probably 15 tackles, and over 100 yards rushing.

  • Did their teams lose? Did their stats not have as much of an impact on the game? Numbers alone don’t do it.

  • Of course there are, but we can only go with the info we have. All players listed this week were from winning teams.

Also, the players are in random order. All are deserving of the award.
