Riverview (11-1) vs. Farmington Hills Harrison (9-3)

Riverview is coming off of a 36-31 road victory over Divine Child while Harrison beat Linden 34-21. The Pirates are the champions of the Huron League and beat Gibraltar Carlson and Trenton before their Regional game at DC. The Hawks defeated Warren Woods-Tower and Warren Fitzgerald in the districts. Harrison is one of the blue bloods of Michigan high school football and has qualified for the playoffs 33 times and has won 13 state titles. Harrison tied for the OAA White Division championship this year. Riverview is known in the coaching fraternity in Michigan as the “Cradle of Coaches” and is led by Derek McLaughlin while John Herrington is the states all-time winningest coach and the only head coach Harrison has ever known. This game will be played at Rochester High School at Noon on Saturday.

Harrison  is led by a host of talented players. They are led by senior QB Noah Hendricks and junior RB Roderick Heard. Heard rushed for over 250 yards last week and scored 3 TD’s. Senior FB Rapana Filemu is a bruising runner while senior WR Ovie Oghoufo is a big play threat that has committed to Notre Dame. Senior Caleb Sparks and junior Maverick Hansen anchor a solid offensive line  On defense, junior DE Caleb Williams is an imposing figure along with senior MLB John O’Connor, senior  OLB Jerrin Harvey and senior DB Nick Cotton.

For Riverview, the Pirates are led by junior Dom Wood who was nicked up against DC. If he is unable to go, senior Hunter Walker will take over the signal calling for the Pirates T offense. The offense will centers around a very good offensive line that includes Cameron Pruitt, Nathan Maher and Cas Sarnaki and a trio of backs all capable of running the ball, but none better than rugged senior Zach Guthrie. Defensively, Zach Warlick, Jack Demare, Andrew Ditzhazy, Tyler Dively, Steven Rice and Kyle Naif are physical players that do just enough to give the Pirates an edge when the offense takes the field. 


This should be a good game between to very good teams and programs. Harrison’s past has no bearing on this game as it is a battle between the 2017 teams from each school. Excellent coaching staffs lead both teams that are a bit dinged up, but that is expected this time of year.
