Monroe is a school that has always had the size and the athletes to make a very good football team. I've always thought there is no reason why Monroe shouldn't be what Bedford is. Personally I think a mixture of parental involvement and somewhat bad coaching (in all sports-not only football) has lowered the standards at Monroe. If you put a guy like Giarmo in the mix at Monroe it changes the entire dynamic of the program. Instead of kids transferring out to other schools they would start transferring in. One more thing I want to add-if these other programs in the SEC weren't down like they are this year Monroe would be looking at a tough season and a lot of parents there wouldn't be too happy with the direction of the program.
I always thought he would end up at Monroe eventually. Obviously, they have a coach in place, but if that job opens down the road, I would personally love to see what he could do there.
I know Carlson has some very good athletes on that team but I can't believe how fast he turned that program around. Without him they probably go 5-4. It would be interesting to see what he could do at Monroe.
MSU should have paid paid Saban and SMCC should have paid Giarmo. Good for everyone else they didn't.
Airport by alot , Jefferson is sinking
Monroe by 21 , Pioneer is down
Flat Rock by 16, the wheels have come off at St Mary's
Hillsdale by 28, Mason won't stop Hillsdale's running backs
Hudson by 21 , Dundee will struggle to stop Hudson
Huron by 7 without Spiess, by 21 with him
Milan by 17 , Milan is better coached
Carlson by 14 , should be a great game
Bedford by 35 , Bedford takes out their frustrations on Skyline
Brooklyn Columbia Central by 10, Ida hasn't seen a quarterback like BCC's
At this point I think state title talk is premature. Is Giarmo a great coach. Yes! Are the Marauders really good? We will find out sooner or later. As for hiring him, I think there were only a few jobs of interest to him and they obviously had to be in the area because of his career. I don't think any of the Huron League schools had a chance just because of his past relationship with SMCC and being a graduate of CC. Personally, I think he was interested in a higher level of football. Carlson is most likely D3, but hovers near D2. The entire Downriver League is pretty much D2 football except Melvindale and Trenton.
SMCC should have never let him go. They could have named Kipf temporary until Jack recovered from surgery.
Seems like Carlsons jack G stock has reached google and amazon level. Should all of lower Michigan be kicking themselves for not pursuing him harder? They look like they are the the path for state championship. Chris what are your thoughts?
Quite the bus ride indeed. Unless you meant quiet.
Grosse ille is clearly a pass heavy team. I would like to see where their passing game gets with a mean huron pass rush as well as an outstanding DB core. I have been watching #1 and #3 on Defense for huron and they both come to play. Personally I would like to see if grosse ille or any team can successfully pass all over huron. 10:10 I wouldn't speak so soon..
