Please vote on our Quality Inn in Monroe “Quality Performer of the Week” in the poll to your left. There were many great performances this week and we listed 5 players that are deserving.
Michael Foor, Airport: The senior RB rushed for 127 yards and a TD as the Jets improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 14-8 victory over the Grosse Ile Red Devils.
Skyler LaVigne, Erie Mason: The running back ran for 110 yards and a TD on just 8 carries in the Eagles 36-30 victory over Britton Deerfield. The junior also hauled in one pass for 28 yards.
Cameron Hitchen, Huron: The rugged senior RB/DE led the Chiefs with 78 yards and 2 TD’s as the Chiefs dumped Jefferson 44-13 Friday evening. Hitchens also recovered a fumble as Huron improved to 2-0 on the season.
Tristen Hines, Milan: The skilled sophomore had a huge game as the defending Huron League Champions defeated a solid SMCC team 41-18. Hines rushed for 210 yards and 4 TD’s along with playing nearly every snap on defense.
Jared Banks, Monroe: The sophomore had his coming out party for the Trojans as he ran for 173 yards and 3 TD’s. Monroe improved to 1-1 on the season with the 28-7 victory over previously unbeaten Elkhart Central.

Coachtom48160 you sound like the typical problem with our teachers and world today. Nobody can be a winner without diminishing someone else's efforts. Guess what in the real world and on the field one wins and the the others don't. The fans are voting, having played college athletics I can tell you you don't have to have the best stats to make the biggest contribution, the lineman that recovers the key fumble, the special team guy that covers the onside kick, the O line that makes holes for those backs to get those yards.i think it's hilarious that you are a coach that has a problem with a winner. I have a participation trophy for you that I will hand to you only after I use hand sanitizer, I will ride it over to you on my bike with a helmet on.
Riverview Offensive Line should be nominated for players of the week.
Keep in mind, folks, that other sites do similar things for similar purposes (cough, cough, http://www.mlive.com/sports/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2017/09/who_was_ann_arbor-area_high_sc.html).
If this weekly vote can drive more traffic to the site, along with bringing a few new sane voices to these discussions, that's fine by me.
There's not a lot of upside to Chris and Gary crowning a weekly "winner" as that seems to officially minimize the contributions of other worthy players that week. To their credit, they also open up the nomination process to us knuckleheads, in case they missed someone deserving credit.
As for the actual voting, though, although I participated in the voting I take the results with a grain of salt. Are any of you familiar with a baby contest? Now *that* is nowhere close to a meritocracy, that's for sure.

Hines is hands down more deserving of player of the week than anyone else on her the he scored over Hal of the big reds points against cc w out him maybe they don't win
Why not just chose a couple kids a week who you think are deserving of "player of the week" and eliminate the voting? I know you want to include the participation of all of us but at the same time it is just a popularity contest. In my opinion what you guys are doing is awesome, just eliminate the voting so there isn't just one winner (who may or may not have the best stats), but instead just have five winners of "player of the week".
People that don't even know your website or what it's even about. It's neighbors and co-workers of parents. I agree with you, recognize the performers, but you guys make the selection just as you do with the game oicks. You're right, you will always take some flack, but you guys are the experts. Just my 2 cents.
