Huron League
1.Huron: Adding what seems to be a great hire & two top players
2.SMCC: A lot back with a great program tradition
3.Milan: Lost two key players, but still Great Coach & Players back
Don't know how the rest will shake up, but could see either of these three win it & should be a fun year.
You can find the article here: http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/article/-4715817851184078739/public-vs-private-playoff-system-makeover-gains-support/
Great article in the AA News about public vs. private. Looks to be something that could get more discussion. Interesting stat provided in the article showing that across all HS sports. Not gonna link the article, but here is something I found interesting from it.
But the former Bay City Central, Alpena, Cadillac and Leroy-Pine River coach knows the numbers. He also knows the frustrations of public school coaches, students and parents who feel they are unable to compete in an unfair system.
Phillips’ targets are private or parochial schools, and he has created a website, http://www.fairplayoffs.com, to make his case. His petition to bring the matter to the Michigan High School Athletic Association has garnered more than 1,900 signatures.
“The goal is to bring awareness and to spread information about a system that isn’t competitive,” Phillips said. “When 14 percent of the schools win 42 percent of the state titles, that’s not a competitive situation.”
That's a crazy stat.
AA Huron might not be able to field a team by weak 9. If they do, look for no more than 25 kids dressed. One of the worst Class A teams in the state.
Completely agree w moving Huron up but Schultzy trumped me.
Not bad of a list although I disagree about Monroe's placement. I would also put Huron ahead of Flat Rock for now. FR's scheduling upgrade will show if they are on the upward trend as Garden City won't be a cake walk for them and Ann Arbor Huron should at least have numbers.
You forgot Airport's JV team ?!? They are at least top 5!
Not even close in power rankings!!
How is Airport not ranked #1??
How is Monroe ahead of Smcc?
