Huron @ Allen Park

Huron (6-3) is coming off of a 35-6 victory over Summit Academy while Allen Park (9-0) defeated Taylor Truman 69-14. Huron is making their 3rd straight playoff appearance and 4th overall while the Jaguars are making their 7th straight trip and 25th overall. These teams have never played in football.

The strength of Huron’s team is their defense which is led by 3 key seniors. MLB Nik Becker leads the Chief’s in tackles while SS Garrett Krzeminski and Brent Kosikowski have been stellar all season. The offense is balanced and will most likely be led by junior QB Brett McKay, who is a dual threat. Junior RB Reed Smith is the Chiefs leading rusher while senior WR Andrew Miller leads the team in receptions.

Allen Park stormed through the Downriver League and outscored their opponents 354-62. The offense is led by senior QB Antonio Mangiapane and senior Ryan Fish who leads the the Jags in rushing. The defense is led by a host of seniors and it starts on the defensive line with 6-2, 270 lb Carlos Agens and 6-2, 215 lb Alex Hinejosa. Rajee Ledesma is the MLB while SS Tyler Beachnau leads the secondary

Allen Park is the team in the district that the Chiefs wanted to avoid. Huron has struggled to score for much of the season while the Jaguars boast a defense that is giving up a paltry 7 ppg. The closeness of this game depends on Huron being able to move the ball early and gaining confidence. Pick: Allen Park 24 Huron 6

(Gary’s Pick: Allen Park 40 Huron 24)

  • Just wondering. What was your score prediction of the MSU/UM game in 2015?, 14?,13?, 12? 11? 10? 9? and 8? That is what I thought. You picked UM every time. Way to go out on a limb this year. You ought to be in Vegas setting odds.

State stinks this year. State fans know it, but at least they own it.

  • Which score is gonna be worse? Michigan vs Michigan state? Or Huron vs Allen park? Michigan game 42-10, Huron game, 46-6, 2 field goals for the chiefs!! Well that's if it's not wet out and he doesn't "slip" on the kick

    • Exactly. I know Huron is gonna have their hands full. But upsets are what make a damn football game!

  • Huron has absolutely no chance in this game. I saw AP play a few weeks ago and they have a very strong and balanced team all the way around! Their O-Line is massive and makes running the ball quite easy for Fish and their other backs. Mangiapane is the real deal passing and running. Glad to see the Chiefs make the playoffs, but they're going to have their hands full. AP is going to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

  • #12 not playing??? say it isn't so. Havent these coaches figured it out yet? He plays they win, simple math.
