Airport @ Grosse ile

Airport (1-5) dropped their 5th straight game when they lost 50-28 to SMCC while Grosse Ile lost their first game of the season to Milan 27-6. The Red Devils won last year’s game 42-21 and lead the all-time series 38-26-2.

Airport continues to struggle and have given up 32 ppg to 3 of the bottom teams in the Huron League standings. The offense was able to put up 28 points last week against SMCC.

Grosse Ile is still stinging from last weeks defeat, but are still a very good offensive and defensive team. Look for the Red Devils to refocus as they get ready for the playoffs and a possible rematch with Milan down the road.

I’m not sure what to expect here. Does Grosse Ile rebound or does Airport rally. Nothing would surprise me. Pick: Grosse Ile 33 Airport 19

Gary’s Pick: Grosse Ile 45 Airport 14

  • Nope. Not going to get over it. I'm going to continue to post my thoughts and impressions as long as that Blue Publish button exists. If you don't like the comments well, don't read them. Oh and btw - if going 1-8 ( in back to back seasons) is what you call "doing their best" - then I think you just supported what us AP fans have been saying. If 2-16 is the best you can do then take your best someplace else.

  • That's crazy. Even if he did take over that would be on the head coach for letting it happen. Get over it. It's high school football. They're doing their best.

  • This probably won't get published but here it goes anyway...
Things won't change at AP until there is a change at the defensive coach position. The def coach is running the show pretty much anyway and until he moves on he is holding Baas back. Sorry - it's the truth.
Won't get approved to post but has to be said anyway.
    Go Jets!

  • 10:35 you are rite! Probably every single kid will never play after high school! But what would this blog be with no banter among bloggers? Max prep score!!! Boring!!!💤💤 Go Jets!!!

  • Can we quit complaining about this already. GET OVER IT !!!

UNLESS YOUR GOING OUT ON THE FIELD AND COACHING YOURSELF, PUT IT TO REST.

Nobodies kids will be playing on Sundays, many not even on Saturdays.

You win, you lose, life will go one either way.

  • Keep it positive Jet fans, your day will come. We all set ourselves up for failure when we get excited about the lower levels and wonder why success isn't the same at next level. I almost think a mediocre JV and Freshman team is a better way to go. Nobody else on here gets as wound up as Airport about the lower levels. That's a path to failure in my book. Lots of history at your school, you will be back. Been there, maybe still there, done that.

  • Watching film is huge. Every team needs to do it. It is definitely part of the formula for success.

    • Did anyone say there wasn't talent? Even talented kids make mistakes, or do something a coach didn't tell them to do, even hear the wrong play/defensive call hell some kids are just outright uncoachable but none of the parents want to hear that now do they?

    • 9:22 your right! Airport just has absolutely no talent! Let's just cancel the rest of the season and any thereafter? By the way kids a back huh! Always runs were he's supposed to huh? That's what I though! Not!!!

    • You don't watch much film do you! Well you might but probably just your kid! I watch the films! Constantly the same kids getting the remarks about being out of position! Almost 40 kids on the team! 2 way playing takes that advantage away! We should be able to tire the opposition out but we don't! Best 11 I'm sure includes your boy who should never leave the field in your opinion?? GO Jets

    • See, here we go again, yes I'm sure the coaches put all of that time in NOT teaching the kids what they're suppose to do. I'm sure the coaches are telling the o-line to run past people who they're suppose to block, I'm sure the coaches are telling the d-line to stand straight up and get blown off the ball, I could go on. C'mon people listen to yourselves...

    • Mental focus starts with coaching. Yes it's up to the kids to buy in but 16-17 year old kids aren't just brought up mentally focused. This is taught all summer long and on the practice field everyday. If players are out of position it tells me they're not being taught what to do. I also think a lot of these kids need to start playing both ways. This program isn't that big to have a 2 platoon system. Your very best 11 should be on the field!!

  • Can't wait to see the adjustments AP coaching have made during practice this week. Or will it be the same old Jets?
