Huron @ Riverview

Be sure to check out the podcast: Huron @ Riverview

Huron (3-2) is coming off of a 42-7 loss to Milan while Riverview (1-4) lost to Jefferson 28-8. Riverview won last season’s game 22-7 and lead the all-time series 38-5.

Huron has had trouble scoring the last few games. Senior QB Joe Camilla will have to find a way to get the ball to his playmakers. The defense plays very well at times, but has a bad habit sometimes of letting teams off of the hook.

Riverview has been plagued by injuries and is playing a very young line up right now. The offense has struggled, but has shown flashes at times this season. The defense is giving up 31 ppg.

This is another game that should be close. Riverview at home could be a factor, as well as, the weather. Heavy rain would favor the Pirates.

  • Riverview has lost 3 of their top returning players (Williams, Walsh, and Paynes-Brown). They have had different backs hurt all year. As a parent I hear each week that this person is out or that person is out. Any team would be hurting if you took away their top 3 players.

    • These kids that you listed are all very good football players. I however would not list them as the top 3 of this team. Lets not forget though the boys that are still playing and doing a great job. Chevy, Boike and Begeman have hardly missed a snap all season and this is their Senior year. It is these boys that I feel bad for. They bust their butts every week and all people want to talk about is those that are out for the season. We have also seen alot of Juniors and Sophmores step in and do a great job Warlick, Naif, Kincaid, Rice and Guthrie to name a few. I see this team doing well next year with all of the experience they have been able to get obtain this season.

  • The View has lots of talented players. Many of which play both sides of the ball. A few of them I would put up against anyone in the league. This team has suffered many losses each week due to illness, injury, and discipline. Yes these are all things that every team struggles with but, this season has been the worst that I have seen. Chris your preseason predictions were spot on. The line has changed each week. Never know who the running backs, line backers, QB etc will be. To the Cam Rogers fan (View Hopefull). Yes he is a good player but hardly the only one on this team.

  • I just saw the film and it was the same play they scored on and there was a huge whole. Guess it was a good enough call for the TD play but since they fumbled it then its not longer a good play call.

  • P.S. Who's the Cam Rogers fan ?
He's running behind a pretty good
offensive line, the backs block for
one another in the T & they are all
equally effective from what I see.

    • Absolutely correct. But, as a former OL, we all know who gets the props - the skinny good-looking guys who carry the ball! Seriously just wanted to recognize a player who impressed me. Especially on a team who is having a rough go of it and isn't getting much "pub" on this blog.

  • You missed the point: The play call did not
put the players in the best position to execute !
    Trump Faithful

    • How do you know? Have you spent 20+ hours a week with these kids? Have you identified which plays they run well in practice? The coach obviously knows the strengths of their team. Maybe not as much as Johnny's father who sees 50 plays every Friday though I guess 🙄

  • Don't be stupid. It's not on the coach. The kid fumbled whether because of the weather conditions or poor execution. This is the problem with Clinton's America - someone always has to be blamed. Nut up and realize bad stuff just happens sometimes. But I'm sure you'd rather tell little Johnny and his buddies that they would have won without the stupid coach. Keep raising those kids who will grow up to lack the ability to accept accountability, criticism, or overcome adversity.

  • Fumbles happen, especially in a foot of water and mud:
Buy WHY call a play where the pulling guard crosses the QB's
face when the call is a straight forward dive (and you
already have two lead backs blocking) ??
The thought process in RIV just astounds me !
MISSED EXTRA POINT IS ON THE COACH.

  • Bucs can win tonight. I feel like Huron isn't great without that QB and a few players that were hurt for the Jefferson game are back like Cam Rogers.
