Huron League Thoughts and Questions

Milan looked very good

Looks like Grosse Ile might be for real.

Is Romulus that Good?

Won’t win many games with turnovers and special teams blunders.

I was impressed with SMCC’s loss.

Airport looks better.

Is Summit that bad?

Looks like the Jefferson offense is explosive if healthy.

The league championship might just be a battle of attrition.

What game do I go see this week?

Thank you to the breakfast club at Farmers this week.

Look for my football picks in The News Herald this week.

Still working on a podcast.

  • You choose where you live if the family doesnt like the school either get involved in your kids education or pick up and move ........school of choice and charters are bad for the overall educational system in our state period yes charters for the most part are not well run schools remember charters in our state are businesses they are run by a ceo who gets paid while others are paid poorly within that charter the nuts and bolts of charters get screwed while the owner brings home the BACON that's fact!

  • Grosse Ile is for real, but they still have plenty to prove.

Romulus may be good Riverview may be bad.

SMCC is always a force to be reckoned with, and will most likely finish within the top tier of the league.

The league championship could be anybody's.

    Airport can only get better.

  • School of Choice may be giving kids opportunities they
may not otherwise have, but if you think Riverview has
gained any advantage ATHLETICALLY, the quick answer is NO !

  • Its does say they have gained 289 from Lincoln park, but have lost 253 to other school districts. Wyandotte had over 500 Lincoln Park students.

I would be curious of some private school numbers, if there are such thing. Be good to know which public schools have the most lost students to the privates.

Numbers like this should come out more often, perhaps the schools with the losses could bust their ass a little harder to get their own students back. Low students, Low funding.

School of choice law should be abolished.

    • It should be expanded. Why should someone be forced to send their kids to a particular school. Make your school better if you are losing kids. Get more involved; get your community involved and stop crying.

  • Good read on AA.com about school of choice numbers in the schools around the state. They did the top 50 schools distrust benefiting from school of choice. Only one Huron League school on the list at number 7....... Riverview.

According to the article, Riverview has a 63% net gain from school of choice with over 1300 non residents enrolled. 300 from Lincoln Park. Thought it was interesting.

  • I'll have the pics tomorrow and Wednesday just in time for Thursday's game. I might do a podcast on my four picks sometimes on Thursday.

    • Chris when are you going to start your picks this week? I think I have a couple of games that I might be spot on with, waiting for your picks to come out so I can compare.
And again your more than welcome to come to our game at FR.

    • May not be popular, but I'd also include Flat Rock-Airport. Back and forth game decided on the final play.

  • Chris, you are appreciated and so is the forum you've set up for us crazies. I love seeing the passion from supporters of all HL schools, especially the ones that haven't had recent success. Keep supporting your boys!
I like the insight on the other teams, since I only see those teams myself when they play Milan. Opinions are fine, but please try to back it up with something. Saying that SMCC was outcoached is hard to believe, and without any examples or supporting arguments it sounds like Hater talk. Don't be afraid of words like Because or Since. I may not agree with your reasoning, but it gives me something of substance to agree or disagree with--and that's a big part of the fun of this blog, IMO.
    Enjoy responsibly!
