  • Define apathy at flat rock middle school?? Maybe the small amount of boys don't play football. That word is very negative towards the students. The amount of boys in those two classes is ridiculously low. That is the problem.

  • Jefferson would have continued to score at will in second half vs. Ida. The 1-2 punch of Sovey-Humphrey will be hard to stop. Ida played slightly better defense and had less turnovers. Only difference there if Sovey stayed in the game.

Ida definitely not as good as last year and Jefferson has improved.

  • All those people that criticize coaches on hear, grab a whistle, apply somewhere and coach. When you work with young players anything can happen, good or bad. Saying a coach gets out coached is total opinion, because you don't no squat about the team or their personnel. Why? Because your not there day in day out, just on game day. Watch some film and you'd see the facts. So shut your pie holes or put a whistle in it and coach. Put your money where your mouth is.

  • My point was to compare scores from last season and I do think FR is better this year, therefore it most likely proves my point that Summit is better as well.

Me asking for a Milan/FR prediction would most likely have proved that he is just being a homer.

Flat Rock is headed in the right direction, but they better address the apathy of the students down in the MS level. They need more than 20 boys in the 7th and 8th grade to play football.

    • Point taken on Summit. With junior camps and a greater emphasis on off season conditioning, hopefully the apathy subsides. I believe it has currently at the high school level. While it's always nice to win, parents/fans shouldn't beat their chest because of a dominating win over Summit. I, for one, hope that was expected, however I drilled into my son that you never can take anything for granted. Same speech works this week, just in reverse. Thanks,as always, for thoughtful discussion and insight.

  • Milan is taking nothing for granted. Playing one game at a time. Out scout and outcoach your opponent by spending the most time in the film room and putting in the most work. Let the kids figure out the rest. Adrian was huge and had really good skill kids and Milan just ran it down their throne even when they put 8-9 in the box. Milan ran north and south and their o-line was impressive. I think Milan threw 3 passes all game. If it wasn't for the stupid penalties, Milan wins by 42. Lots of stuff to clean up, but personnel wise Adrian matched up pretty good with some monsters on the line. They returned 6 starters on each side of the ball, so a great win for an extremely young Milan team.

  • Chris I do believe FR is vastly improved. They are more physical than I have seen in the past 3 or 4 years. They hit and tackle well. As for Summit...I'm not sure who the coaches are. I hate bashing anyone, but they seemed very out of sorts. Summit had a few athletes and decent size. They ran the same plays that didn't work all game. FR ran the same plays all night that did work. Only formation used all night was the I formation from FR. Higgy as far as I saw did not run the ball once. He was out at WR all night. FR had horrible penalties, late hits, targeting/helmet contact. All while up BIG. They do not have anyone that can match Milans speed. Milan if healthy wins big.

  • Lol. It's fine. I just want people to think before they post. I know the answers to the questions I asked. I would really be interested to see his pick for Friday.

  • Ask yourself two questions. What was the score last season of Summit/ FR? Is FR better than last season? I think I made my point

Try this, let's see you pick the Milan/ Flat Rock game. Come on genius, serve it up. Give us a score.

    • Chris,

I am not the original poster that called you out, but I'm a Flat Rock parent with a son on the team last year and this year. Sure, last year they won 60-6 and 48-0 this year. So because last year's point differential was 54 vs. 48 this year, last year was the better team? Flat Rock had a dynamic quarterback last year, who accounted for much of the offense. There is no replacing that, but this year the quarterback seems to be efficient and won't have to do as much. The team has much more depth, is stronger, more physical, and balanced. So, to answer your question, I feel this year's team is the better team. I'm not into predictions, so I guess only time will tell. There is no question Milan is not Summit. Friday night's game will be a huge challenge, and few if any will give Flat Rock a chance. Flat Rock has come a long way from the running clocks of four years ago. They may still have room for improvement, but nobody on this board really knows with absolute certainty. Anyway, just my two cents. Thank you, as always, for what you do.

    • I am with you Chris. Hey 5:36 pm Let's see what happens when Flat Rock plays Milan this Friday. I think the score will be a little different. Maybe you can enlighten us on a pregame perdiction.

    • Chris, don't let people like that get to you. I have a hard time trying to figure out picks. You do a great job for most of your picks are very accurate. Keep doing what your doing, we enjoy it.
