Riverview (6-3) is coming off of a 40-34 OT loss to River Rouge while Allen Park (8-1) wrapped up a share of the Downriver League title with a 66-6 thrashing of Taylor Truman. The last time these two teams met was in the 2004 playoffs. Allen Park leads the all-time series 7-1.
Riverview is looking to bounce back after blowing a big lead last week. Junior QB Donnell Williams leads the offense. The Pirates will look to run the ball 90% of the time. Senior Tyler Chase is a bruising FB that should give the Jaguars fits. Riverview’s defense has been solid all season, but may struggle to stop Allen Park’s spread offense. Riverview players to watch are Evan Begeman, Wyatt Gardocki, Charles Chevillet, Dakota Martin, Shane Sparks and Brian Gubbini.
Allen Park is led by QB Antonio Mangiapane. The junior is a dual threat player with star qualities. He has a boatload of skill players that he will get the ball to, those include; Reid Paffhausen, Ryan Fish, Michael Bress and Nate Berrelez. The offensive and defensive lines are the strength of the Jaguars team this year and are led by Ryan Compean, Carlos Agen, and Owen Balestrieri.
This game could go either way. Both teams strengths are their defenses. If this were going to be a 3 yards and a cloud of dust, then I would take the Pirates. Allen Park’s spread offense should give Riverview fits. This should be a low scoring, but I have a feeling some points might be put up. Pick: Allen Park 24 Riverview 21

Riverview might under achieve more than Huron.
2 years ago I saw riverview play melvindale in the playoff. Though this isn't the same team, riverview was clueless vs a spread that throws the ball. The Huron league is not a throwing league and riverview has a tough match up.
Plus back then Allen Park was wayyy more of a powerhouse. They are still good but nothing like the early 2000's. EM
Sounds like AP is over do for a loss to a HL team. .just sayin
There have been 5 games between AP and Huron league schools in that time frame. Actually the games were played from 2000-2004. Way to go out on a limb.
Should someone say, Allen Park has beaten a Huron League team in the last 10 seasons?
Allen Park has not lost to a Huron League school since 1999.
Not going to happen this year, either.
Not even close to being a game. Allen Park wins going away, 45-7.
Thank you #9 Dad and Smcc fan. This has been the best comment section since I have been reading this blog. It's great to see schools pulling for each other that battle on the field every year. Good luck to you guys as well and Rep the league well.

Play like you did against SMCC and you will win easily. Good luck View from SMCC.
Looking forward to this one, gonna be interesting to see if Riverview can establish the run against a good Allen Park defense. Tyler Chase as a lead blocker is fun to watch, kid is a freakin bulldozer. Btw I heard Gant got hurt, he still out? Gimme the Pirates in a close one. Riverview 21 Allen Park 20. EM
