Congrats to SMCC’s Adam Kipf on his first varsity win as a head coach.
Huron looked very very good.
It was nice to see my Alma Mater Flat Rock get a win on Friday. Congrats to the players and coaches!
Did any starter play more than the 1st half for Riverview against Ecorse?
Obviously Milan missed arguably the best RB in the league against Marshall.
Sounds like a young Grosse Ile team let one get away from them on Friday.
Could be a long season at Airport, that score surprised me.
I’m not sure what to think about Jefferson, I know Ida is really good again.
The league went 4-4 in week 1 and so did I. That isn’t very good.
How could Tecumseh give up that many points to SMCC? It isn’t like they haven’t seen that offense before.
Huron junior WR Andrew Miller looks like a Devin Collins clone. Expect a good year from him.
It was nice to see my fellow teammates; Dave Lambrix, Jim Hamilton and Todd Gillman from the 1983 Flat Rock football team at the Ram game Friday. By the way, we were 5-4 that season.
Big early season game down at Navarre Field as Riverview plays SMCC.
I’m pretty sure Milan will be an angry football team when they host Flat Rock this week.
Grosse Ile won’t be an easy win for anyone this season, although they a probably a year away.
Sounds like Airport’s line play needs to improve.
We will find out where Jefferson stands when they travel to the island on Thursday.
Did we really learn anything about the Huron League in week 1?
For all the Michigan fans out there, how often do B1G teams win on the road against the PAC 12?
For all you State fans out there, can you believe I had a UM buddy of mine bet me straight up $100 on the MSU @ Western game?
For all you Buckeye fans, take a shower for once would you please?

He's a good kid. Very knowledgable for baseball. Didn't know he knew basketball too.
NICE !
I'm not even sure the Jefferson poster is saying that the team would do better if they rotated more players in. It might be an even worse message: "If we are going to lose anyway, let's at least see my kid and his buddies get in the game."
I sure hope that's not what they're saying down there on the beaches.
If you have those kind of soccer credentials, I hope things improved for you. First year is one thing, but hopefully soon after, your expertise kicked in.
Occasionally, there are very qualified coaches out there but have trouble relating to the kids or organizing a system. So sometimes credentials aren't all they are cracked up to be. No offense, hopefully that was not your situation.

I wrote the 1:08 comment. I coach in the area. That's how it should be. If you continue to lose, your done. As a coach, if I continue to lose, I expect grief from parents and expect to be gone or even step down from coaching. 1 year, even 2 years of a poor record can be tolerated, you get into 3 and 4 years, any coach at any school should voluntarily go. This is 3rd year, so I will hold off any more negativity for awhile.
Bottom line is if you want to keep your job, you must succeed. Its not just coaching, Its real life. High school is a short 4 years for these young football players. For as hard of a sport football is, success is motivation. I have the utmost respect for any young man who puts himself through the rigorous daily life of football for a losing program. I truly hope the tide turns.
I have seen and heard it too many times. I have numerous personal examples myself as a head coach and an assistant. I have seen it on the blog many times from 2009. Team wins, coach is winning with the talent we gave him, team loses, coach doesn't know what the heck he is doing.
My first year girls soccer program went 0-10 last season. Phone rang off the hook telling me how bad our coach was. I thought to myself, 18 year veteran math and science teacher with a PhD who played college soccer, played professionally in Europe and has coached in a state championship game. Hmmmmmmmm. Something isn't right here.
We all have a tendency to over estimate our own little Johnny. I did it with my kid, just like all parents do. You know what? It's okay, it's human nature. I'm just going to go to bat for coaches, nearly every time.
Def unappreciated job no matter what when you are losing for sure. Sometimes you just have to maybe face the truth. I come from a diff school system but i know a lot of the coaches out there know the sports they are coaching. Just because a team doesn't win don't attack all coaches, that's just not right. In the grand scheme of things its just a game that is for sure
@ 7:11 Why because people try to find something to stay positive about. Always Easy to laugh and kick a program or people when they are down. That's one game that we were all at. Yes we lost but we will still be in ball games and competitive this year. Let us know how Jefferson fans are then.
Parent credo "when we win it's the kids fault, when we lose it's the coach's fault". Wonder why anyone coaches anymore.
Don't agree coaches say that..that is coach speak...most fans want a well coached team parents get it that some teams are just bettet
Ida was pretty good, but we knew what was coming. 90% run with an occasional pass. We stacked box. 4-4 defense. still couldn't stop the run. Fundamentals on tackling, over and over and over.
Need to quit focusing on favorites, takes whole team to win. Fan base is great. Fundraising support is great. We/kids deserve better. Can't keep hiring people from within the system, the system is not that good. Where do you think the current coaches learned from.
SMCC, Sanderson, Giarmo, Kipf. Sanderson was awesome, Giarmo learned from him and Kipf learned from both. No Brainer. Success.
There are 2 SMCC coaches out there willing to coach at Jefferson, will we hire them. ?? doubtful.
Hired a Monroe kid for baseball. best coach we got.
We hired him for basketball
Trace has been released and will be back Friday. He has a sprain not a broken bone.
