Country Day @ Milan

Milan (4-4) defeated Airport 45-27 while DCDS (4-4) fell to Muskegon CC 30-0. These two teams have met twice over the years with each team winning one game.

Milan has won two straight games after dropping three straight. The running game has picked up while the defense has done just enough.

This is not a vintage DCDS team, but the Yellow Jackets have played a tough schedule. Although they have only one quality win, there are some players capable of making big plays.

Both teams need a win this game to give them a shot at the playoffs. A DCDS win should give them enough points to get in at 5-4. Milan may need some help with a win to get into the playoffs, but the opportunity is there. Prediction: DCDS 27 Milan 21

  • Milan can only win if they play the best complete game of the year on all three phases. How hard is that....

  • Just read this in MLive:

"Detroit Country Day lineman verbally commits to Harvard -- Scout.com’s Allen Trieu reported that Country Day offensive tackle Justin Hunter (video highlights) verbally committed to Harvard last week.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle picked the Ivy League school over offers from Eastern Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio and Syracuse.

Scout has Hunter as a 3-star prospect while Rivals lists him as a 2-star recruit."

  • I know a bunch of kids personally on Milan. They will give it all they have. I think they can do it. I know one kid who wants it real bad.

  • Milan loses due to lack of Discipline, short of numbers and very young maturity level. They are not ready to compete with the Big Boy teams yet

  • I would say that 3 of those 4 teams will win state titles this year. Loyola and Muskegon CC would be title contenders in D-4 through D-8 in my opinion. They have the size and talent of D-1 teams and would probably make the playoffs in D-1.

If Country Day makes the playoffs, they will most likely have a good chance to win a regional and make it to the semi-finals in D-4.
