Jefferson @ Riverview

Riverview (3-0) beat Airport last week 34-19 while Jefferson (0-3) lost to Milan 34-0. The Pirates won last years game 50-12, but the Bears have won six of the last ten.

Riverview seems to be hitting their stride offensively. They can score through the air or on the ground. The defense continues to be the strength of this team and will need to play well against the pass happy Bears.

Jefferson has been able to move the ball through the air this season, but lack of a running game and turnovers have hurt them. While the defense hasn’t been a bright spot, they are much improved over a year ago.

Riverview seems poised to make a run at the league title. The natives down near the lake are a little restless with the new Jefferson regime. I know it is hard, but you have to give the new guys some time to turn things around. They are doing a lot of things right down there, the wins will come eventually. Prediction: Riverview 34 Jefferson 14

  • Cool your jets Riverview JV. We are not beating any varsity programs in this league. Just worry about doing your job and paying your dues. You'll have your chance next year.

  • You should care what your JV does because it's all part of a program. And good programs attract good athletes. CC has figured that out a long time ago. Not just school of choice kids, but kids that are good athletes that choose not to play football because their program is horrible and choose to transfer or play other sports. Winning breeds numbers and talented kids want to be part of a winning program. Riverview's JV will roll out tonight with 45 strong and dominate Jeffersons 18 or so and although you can argue you have a freshman team and it doesn't matter and your school is smaller and 10 other reasons why your varsity is bad, your JV program does matter and winning is contagious and expected at the view. Go Bucs!

  • LMAO, Anonymous at 9:40 is dranking some hateraide. Don't be mad because Riverview's JV could whoop most varsity teams in the league.

JV squads work just as hard as Varsity and deserve a little recognition. No need to be a jerk about it. Take your sour grapes elsewhere.

  • If it's true that Jefferson has a pretty good passing offense, they could give Riverview a run for their money. Riverview hasn't had decent passing defense in the past. I'm gonna call for a closer game, Riverview 28 Jefferson 21, clock runs out while the bears have the ball.

  • Nobody cares what your JV does. Your JV was undefeated lasr year, and if you don't win the league and make a playoff run at the varsity level this year what does it matter?

  • Riverview has some horses this year and are going to be a force to reckon with when they play SMCC. The Bears were given 4 turnovers, or caused 4 turnovers if you want to look at it that way, and they still ended up with a Goose Egg on the scoreboard. I say don't be surprised if the Bucs put up 50 or even 60 on this team, and Jefferson is lucky to score.

  • It would be nice to hear what the Jefferson changes are. Could they be personnel-related, play calling, or the site of this week's team dinner. :)

Kidding aside, sophomore Brandon Sovey is a keeper. Bears fans will have a good time watching him for a while.

  • I agree stay the Course. We still have to have faith and believe in your team and Offense. It seemed when we went to the air in 2nd half Vs Airport that holes opened up in running game. WE just need to get off to a good start and make somethings happen, and get some Confidence, then you never know.
