Huron @ Riverview

The Chiefs (3-1) are coming off of a 28-14 victory over Milan while Riverview (4-0) routed Jefferson 37-6. The Pirates won last season’s instant classic with a thrilling 40-37 victory which saw five lead changes in the final 3:54 of the game. Riverview has won the last three meetings by a total 10 points.

Riverview comes into Friday’s game averaging 34 ppg. The Pirates are led by senior QB Drew Kroll on offense while the running game is led junior Eric Gant. The defense has been just as impressive giving up just under 12 ppg and is led by maybe the best LB in the league, Tyler Chase.

Huron has had to shrug off a season ending ACL injury to senior RB Ian Robinson against SMCC. Two underclassmen have filled in at the position with junior Jacob Fryer and sophomore Robert Sullins getting most of the carries. Huron’s defense has been opportunistic this season. Senior CB Devin Collins leads the Chiefs with 3 Int’s.

Although nothing can compare to last season’s game, these two teams are evenly matched. Both appear to be playoff caliber teams with stars on both sides of the ball. Two players to watch out for are Riverview’s Adam Borgert and Huron’s Jonathan Krug. Both are extremely physical linemen. Another player to watch out for is Huron’s junior QB Matt Hartwick. He has accounted for 8 TD’s in the first four games this season.

This could be a low scoring affair with whoever wins the turnover battle winning the game. This may not be the only meeting of these two teams this season. It is homecoming at Riverview, that has to be worth something. Prediction Riverview 16 Huron 14

  • How many times are we going to have to read about how Milan should have beaten Riverview? Enough already. Riverview is 4-0 and Milan is struggling. Get over it, you guys lost.

Turnovers and penalties are part of the game. Sour grapes. Milan is just not that good of a football team this year, it is ok to be in a rebuilding mode.

  • Ask CC in 91 at the silverdome if a QB sneak can go all the way. 80 yards first play QB sneak for the score.

  • Duh?
    Yeah, it's called defense.
Every offensive play is designed to go all the way. Every defensive call is designed to make a stop.

    Duh?
Who can execute will make the difference.
    Duh?
I guess some get their football smarts from ESPN...Duh...lol

  • Hurons line is equal in size and speed of Riverviews line lol they have almost the same packages in the backfield as well. This is going to be a closer game than people think

  • The difference will be who can execute and make stops. Also, the team that turn the ball over loses.

    DUH really??
