Grosse Ile (1-0) is coming off of a 47-0 thrashing of Annapolis while Huron (1-0) crushed hapless Summit Academy 49-8. The Red Devils won last seasons game 28-3 and have won 7 out of the last 10 in the series.
Grosse Ile is once again led by the dynamic Andrew Mitroka at QB, but the offense has an abundance of weapons and solid speed at the skill positions. Defensively, the Red Devils are led by Phil Camilleri and Dean Ziberi.
Huron has two major weapons on offense, junior QB Matt Hartwick is a clone of GI’s Mitroka and senior RB Ian Robinson. Robinson has a good speed and has bulked up which allows him to run between the tackles. The Chief defense is young and energetic. They are led by two juniors at LB, Steele White and Jake Galzlka.
This should be a great early season matchup. GI has beaten the Chiefs rather soundly the last three years. A win by the Red Devils would be a key win over a league opponent capable of beating most anyone in the league. A victory for the Chiefs could help propel them to a special season.
There are a few things to watch for in this game. The size of Huron’s offensive line versus the team speed of GI’s defense. The other would be how each defensive coordinator handles the speed and explosiveness of the two QB’s in the game. Prediction: GI 23 Huron 21

How do you feel about that Derrek Anderson defense that was shredded for 380 + yards last night? GI's defense was beat up. The only thing they could resort to was ripping helmets off of defenseless players and their coach running onto the field to whine. It was a beat down!
Actually it was four interceptions that derailed Huron last season. Won't happen again.
The bigger they are the harder they fall. GI's undersized defense hasn't had a problem shutting down Hurons offense the last three years. Speed and conditioning best out size everytime. But I'm done I will let GI's D do the rest of the talking. Fire up Devil Dawgs!
How's that D Looking to you now?
215, 215 and 218 GI's DL vs. 240,240, 220, 200, 265 Huron's OL Hmmmmmmm. The question needs to be, do you like GI's offense over Huron's defense more than Huron's offense over GI's defense?
I'll take Derrick Anderson's Defense over a Kalbfleish offense anyday. Add a John "Bear" Bodner offense and that's just icing on the cake
Watch out for the GI D-Line! Pugh Gilliam and Trombley are animals!
NO LIGHTNING!!
That could be a huge factor this evening. Right now the weather in New Boston at 7 pm tonight is saying scattered thunderstorms and a 50% chance of rain. Hot and humid.
Had anyone considered the weather ? Huron38 gi 14
