  • For the posters at 4:54 & 5:33 (and for any commenters in these multi-game threads), please be sure to at least mention one of the teams so we know which game you're talking about. You'll get more and better replies to your posts.

FWIW, I'll be posting my takes on the Milan-Marshall game later on.

  • I generally agree GI Parent, but they did a lot of good things too. First game, most of the starters were out BEFORE the half. Sometimes you just play to your competition especially in that first one. I'm happy with what I saw-a shutout, many forced turnovers, 2 blocked punts, a defensive touchdown, and Mitroka under center. Life is not that bad!

  • Hey in case you weren't watching your kid isn't better than dontel Hampton. He didn't play in the 3rd and 4th qtr on defense. He is their BEST player. He was injured. BTW GR had 10 kids going 2 ways LOL.

  • Flat Rock wasn't in a game last year. Last night those kids played hard and looked motivated and out hit Richard. Every HL team has their best players playing 2 ways. FR's best player cramped in the 3rd quarter and he barely played the 2nd half. I'd say if you want to blame oestrike for anything blame him for not having his kids in better shape. FR has 5 kids that belong on the field. maybe oestrike should make it little league and let everyone play and you can have running clocks like you did last year. FR kids have a new attitude and will continue to work. I still think they can compete with the lower half and have a chance against stockbrige

  • Talented kids that won't play for him? They wouldn't play for the last coach and the one before that and the one before that. Nobody can win with kids they don't have. If kids won't or don't play, it isn't because of the coach. It is because of their own lack of desire or willingness to be a part of a team. Period!

  • GI played a non talented out of shape team yesterday.

As a GI parent we have a lot of work to do once they start to play Huron League teams.

As we know it was the first game and things weren't as crisp as they should be but if they played a team with better talent it would not of been a blow out.

That being said they need to step it up against what will be a tough Huron team next week. I am not not picking on the GI team - We have a TON of talent but next week will be way tougher than this this game.

  • Bears right side O-line was very questionable, but they kept running plays that direction. Left side was solid. The few plays that went that way were successful. Too many holding calls by same kids. Need to work on footwork big time. Discipline truck better park in middle of field and stay awhile. Too many underclassman in important spots, need experience out there.

    • They moved up jv coach to offensive coordinator .to varsity thisyear his players on jv blocked caught passes well what happened

  • Why don't they have the talent? I feel it's because alot of talented kids can't and won't play for him so again the loss goes to tommy

  • That loss isn't on Oestrike. GR's # 14 was the difference in the game. He won the game1 He is an excellent QB who made plays including a pick 6 in the 1st quarter. FR has some holes defensively that they just don't have the talent to fill. The OLB and DE play just wasn't very good. FR is 100% improved from last season and you should be thankful for the hard work that the kids and coaching staff have put in.
