Closing in on Season

It is officially late June and football season is only seven weeks or so away from starting. Give us your thoughts on your teams and the league.

  • I would be very surprised if Airport is a SERIOUS challenger for the league. 4-0 isn't out of the question but then it gets real, real fast.

  • Riverview will not challenge for the league even though they will have talent. 5-4 maybe 6-3 with the cupcake non conference. Airport will lose to both Adrian and Tecumseh in the non conference. Only guarantied victory is Flat Rock. They could beat Jefferson or Huron after Huron starts 1-3. Best case scenario 4-5, but not sure where that 4th win could come from.

  • GI has probably 10 good receivers and a decent sized line...plus they have more depth than last year, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Also mitroka is 100% and looking like a stud at 1 nation 7v7...GI goes undefeated. Period.

  • Airport will be a serious challenger for the league title. I believe Baas will prove his worth after a rough rookie campaign. EM

    • I got reason to be optimistic. If the Oline is as good as i think they'll be LOOK OUT. Airport will score alot of points this year. EM

    • Oh EM, always the eternal optimist. Airport has no QB and is very queationable at many spots including on the sideline.

  • RIVERVIEW should always be very solid to great in the Huron League. I am surprised not when they are, but when they arent.

  • I know there is much talk of Milan threepeating or SMCC being the team. I think however that Riverview is going to surprise the league. This season the Pirates have a coach that is just focused on football and not the entire athletic department. An emphasis will be put on defense and the running game. Riverview has a solid core of varsity players returning with an excellent JV squad moving up. Don't be surprised if the Pirates win the league. By the way, Grosse Ile will be down. Not enough depth, too many injuries and QB1 will not be fully healed.
