I like it when SITOFN joins in and btw, i have seen him at a few games.
Brackets will be unveiled tomorrow. This allows people to get an idea of where they stand.
So, what's the speculations on who's playing who next week? I thought I could find who's in what regions and divisions and just guess from there, but I couldn't find that
SITOFN you should attend a GI game before you start talking so much!
Oh ok. I thought they might be in the same district. I'm sure Milan wants another shot at Tecumseh. Riverview vs Melvindale would be good. EM
I think that they are headed in different directions in the playoffs. MIlan will head north/west while Riverview will hang around metro Detroit.
How about a Milan- Riverview rematch this friday night? Sounds good to me. EM
Good for GI to close the season with win. Hopefully next year they avoid the injury bug that bit hard this year.
Nice to see another Voll*** coming up, he will be tough.
Nice year for Milan, congrats and remember a HL title is nice... but keep your eye on the prize!
View looked good down the stretch...#22 (smith I think) is one tough RB. Super quick and likes contact, maybe the best in the league. He is proof positive that the size of your heart IS much more important than the size of your body in HS football (or anything else for that matter).
Huron also showed some real progress down the stretch, that was nice to see.
SMCC D is a surprise to me...a little too porous. That will slow them down in the playoffs, but they will go farther than all HL teams.
A quick comment about GI spread...While it is surely great to score with, it also CAN NOT tolerate injury. It is a scheme SOOO dependent on QB that an injury there can decimate the team (which it did). Coach B was lucky to have basically 4 years of an injury free Rob White so this Achilles heel of the spread was not shown early in his tenure.
Other offensive schemes (like veer option ala SMCC) are much easier to "plug and play" around injuries including QB.
2 caveats about my GI spread comments above:
1) No matter what type of O you run, losing your QB is tough because he is usually one of your best athletes.
2) GI was hit by several injuries not just the QB. It really was tough on the program...both O and D.
Giddy UP in the playoffs boys...it's go time and everyone is bringing it.
SITOFN
Smith had 3 carries. 1 for a loss of 1. Another 5 yards and another for a 17 yard touchdown.
It looks like Huron and GI are on the outside looking into the playoffs. 9 5-4 teams to get in class B. Huron is 15th and GI 17th among Class B 5-4 teams.
