Both teams are coming off of week one victories. Riverview dismantled Crestwood by a score of 49-0 while Milan’s 13-6 victory over Ypsilanti took two days to complete. Milan won last year’s matchup 38-13.
Riverview piled up a bunch of yardage on the ground last week behind the skills of seniors Marcus Samuels and Josh Smith. The defense appears to be improved as the Bucs shutout Crestwood.
Milan was able to survive against Ypsi last week. The Big Reds were able to shrug off some injuries. The offense will center around senior QB Robert Kanitz and freshman RB Trace Lindeman. The defense was solid while holding the speedy Grizzlies to just 6 points.
This game could tell us a lot about the Huron League this season. Is Riverview for real and/or is Milan going to really stand and defend their title. In close matchups you always go with coaching and homefield. Milan’s coach Jesse Hoskins is one of the best young coaches in the state but Riverview’s Jeff Stergals has been doing this thing a long time. Pick: Riverview 21 Milan 17

Chris, I wouldn't call picking Milan 6th in 2011 a very high prediction...
I tweeted that I will never pick against Milan again. With that said where were you in 2011 when I picked them high and they finished and they finished 1-8? ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
Milan 48 Riverview 28 Tell me again how "Milan isnt as good as everyone depicts them." Last year on this blog they were picked to finish dead last. The won the Huron League Championship with most bloggers here laughing in their face and blogging how they were not "for real." Here we are a year later with nearly the same scenario playing out, and once again there is that group of teenage warriors from Milan feeding off your locker room fodder. I get that everyone has their favorite team but when is credit given where it is obviously due?
To predict Riverview to beating Milan 35-7 is a bit much. Maybe they will win, but crush the defending champs. NOT gonna happen. A prediction like that is overwhelming like the Crimson Tide. Riverview is not that good and Milan is not that bad. Sorry.
Hoskins knows what hes doing out there, give the man some respect.
Who said they were Alabama?
Whoaaaa ! Riverview has 1 decent win against Crustwood and they are Alabama now. Milan is a very good team and Riverview is unpredictable. Should be a great game and Milan will prevail 28-17.
Ypsi was terrible they had no coaching what so ever all's they did was run with their quarterback. They were very undisciplined and it should've been a blow out, but Milan isn't as good as everyone depicts them to me. Riverview wins 35-7.
Another brilliant opinion
Milan's defense has been strong all along. Ypsi actually had a good set of scrambling QB's and they held them to one TD.
Perhaps you could be right...an offensive battle. If Kanitz is good to go he will literally will his team to victory. Playing on an away field means little to those guys.
Kicking game is key.
