Milan's Trace Lindeman proved his worth on varsity as a freshman and ran up the score pretty early
Depth may be a problem for GI. But as long as Mitroka plays QB, they got a shot to win the league. EM
Gi has at least 6 guys going both ways that I know of- volmerhausen, mccarty, camilleri, gilliam, stewart, and moskall. Depth really is a problem without mcaughey and only 23 varsity guys
I and a few of my HL peeps saw as much as we could and what we gathered was CC is VERY solid but not very deep and seemed to already have injury issues. After our discussions we decided sense GI plays there they were our favorites eventhough GI is VERY solid and very fast, they lost a small back but he seemed to be the main one so this could be an issue? He was very slippery. But oh ya..... Their QB is still a freaking monster. They were missing one of their top players in street clothes but they still seemed to own all they played fairly easily. Jefferson was actually FUN to see again but not that terribly impressive. A bit of NOT BORING Jefferson ball. Huron looked good and like I said earlier the team to surprise the league.... (PS.... they were all over the place talking smack at the GI scrimmage including their coach in the end zone with cameras! There was AT LEAST 20 of them there) Scotty Mac is a monster but the team did not really impress me so who knows. FR and View were what I expected one looked young and unexperienced and the other fast as hell but not very good all around. Guess which is which...? I got nothing on Milan. Tried but no takers to take the trip.
I think its pretty bad when you're talking about the boys so called "smack" talk then turn around and do the same thing on here. If your an adult lets act like one.
I have also heard that SMCC has a handful of starters that have had some injuries that could be recurring through out the season. If these few don't stay healthy it will hurt the team. A few with injured backs and one with an injured hand, one with a injured knee.
Thank you, that is what I was talking about.
Okay, you want real info. GI has very few varsity players and now McAughey (spelled correctly) is out with a broken leg. The players they have are talented, commited, well coached, and fast. The bulk of this team has played together since they were in elementary school. They play well together and trust each other.
There wont be too many offensive changes from last year, but losing Nellenbach and Christen will hurt. McCarty, Volmerhausen, Mitroka will be primary offense scoring. GI sets shotgun hurry-up option offense and hides the ball well. You will see more passing from them this year.
Defense will adjust well changing it up depending on who they play. Some very good linemen and linebackers. They seem confident. Also fundamentals are solid with this group.
Some old names you will see again. Gape, Groff, Marko, Judd all had older brothers play, they play like veterans. Camilleri and Ziberi will likely be two way starters offensive line and linebacker. Ramon Stewart on the line maybe both ways. Max Gilliam may have won the starting center position. He is big, strong and smart. He started on Varsity in 2012 as a soph. Justin Moores is a Frosh who will play varsity for GI. Here is name to pay attention to. He is big fast and has great hands. seniors Moskall, Martinelli and Tascoff will see plenty of time as will Lowler, Zochowski and Perry.
The biggest worry for Grosse Ile is numbers. With only 22-24 players, they will need an injury free year. Losing McAughey is extremely hurtful.
The game picks will be out sometime this week. I will also have my actual season predictions coming out in the next few days. Still trying to gather some info and sort through it all. The secrecy surrounding teams is pretty laughable. It is football, you block and you tackle. It never really changes. I wish people were a little more forthcoming about their teams. I would just like to share that info with the readership.
when will you have your picks for the week?
