SMCC @ Airport

The Falcons fell to 2-1 last week after losing to Grosse Ile 21-15 while Airport improved to 3-0 after beating pesky Flat Rock 14-7. Airport won last season’s matchup 28-7.

SMCC let a 15-0 halftime lead get away from them last week. The Falcons will continue doing what they do, which is, running the ball. The defense is pretty solid and will need to be again this week.

Airport continues to roll even though they struggled a little bit last week. Look for the Jets to throw the ball some more against the Falcons.

This is a big rivalry game and should bring out the best in both teams. Normally I would give the edge to the home team but give me the veteran coach this time. Pick: SMCC 22 Airport 21

  • SMCC has several good junior players on there team like O'Lear, Corbin, Czarnowski, Antonelli the few they lost to baseball didnt change the team because they were kids who were not starting players. And last year on JV Heller lost his starting position to Windham for quarterback. SMCC is a good team and had an off game with Grosse Ill and they proved it this week.

  • Airport will win based on experience and leadership. Sophomore QB isnt going to cut it. Baseball and Basketball his best sports, football 3rd choice. SMCC's best junior players chose to play fall baseball(Heller) This years seniors on their own and were part of last years debacle. Don't believe SMCC can overcome all that. 2 more years maybe.
Airport will be ready, it was tough for Airport to be up for Flat Rock, no worries this week.
    Airport 28 SMCC 14

    • Airport jets over smcc, new head coach vanwashnova leads with great strength. My pick for head coach years ago after redman went to Monroe. 42 - 14 jets

  • CC's jv qb from last year isn't playing this year...it was Heller. Wilson did get some time last year on varsity. The soph qb is Windham a pretty solid athlete.

For those doubters out there 99.9% of the parents are great...unfortunately it is the one parent that does ruin it for all!!

  • Hopefully last week was a wakeup call for Airport, cause a similar performance will mean CC leaves town with a win. I believe Potcova will be able to exploit a suspect Falcons secondary and hit McCormick and Patterson on some big plays. I expect the front 7 to win the battle up front and limit CC's big plays, Airport takes it 24-13. EM

  • Yes Wilson started some games lat year as a JR. He has only played a handful of plays due to injury this year. A Soph has taken his place and threw a pick 6 last week. I think the Soph will be good eventually.

    • I think from reading the paper that the soph has 3 or 4 TD passes already, that has to be close to a school record for a team that passes like 10 times a year.

  • What is this i keep hearing about an injuried QB? I dont recognize the name. Is he a returning starter? I know cc's jv QB was good when they beat us last year. Im not sure about the varsity, just know it was a blowout.

  • Come on Chris. 99 percent of parents are good. That's a bit high! Maybe 1 bad parent per position in every sport is more like it.

Youth and High School sports these days are ridiculous. Parents have more control than coaches in some cases and it's sickening. We've all seen good coaches lose jobs because of bitter parents.

    • I can't agree more!! I sit on the sidelines of all different sports watching the games. All I hear is what the coach is doing wrong. Not how the kid did not go to any work outs on the off season or is a jerk in practice. Did u know it only takes 9 weeks in a sport and your kid is the star!!! Lmao

  • I wouldn't agree with that statement about SMCC or the parent comment.

The Falcons have a good team and have been playing a 10th grader at QB because of injury. Leadership is not an issue.

Parents? Ninety-nine percent of parents at all schools are great. It takes just one to ruin it. Most schools have one of those.

    • Ok, your right only takes one parent to make our schools look bad. Explan how in a private school a catholic school at that, and we let them fail religion class and still they play. The parents of cc are not the ones I grew up to respecting. My son is getting to the age were I need to make a choice. It's looking like public schools r beating cc out.
