Friday Night Stars

Here are a few stars from around the Huron League Friday night.

Josh Smith, Riverview: The speedy sophomore carried the ball 27 times for 190 yards and two TD’s in the Pirates 31-21 victory over arch-rival Grosse Ile

Steven Curnett, Huron: The bruising junior carried the ball 16 times for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs 21-14 victory over Flat Rock.

Caleb Schumake, Airport: The senior RB made a convincing case for Huron League Offensive Player of the Year by running for 100 yards and four TD’s on just 10 carries in the Jets convincing 48-14 victory over Milan.

Ryan Bosanac, Jefferson: Bosanac scored two TD’s including the game winner in the Bears 15-13 OT victory over their hated rival SMCC. Bosanac carried the ball 20 times for 77 yards.

Trevor Zajac, Huron: The senior LB had 10 tackles in the Chiefs victory over Flat Rock.

Vince Maheres, Riverview: The senior LB recorded 11 tackles and led a strong defensive effort by the Pirates as they won back the Colvin Cup from Grosse Ile.

not disputing any kids talent that you listed but it sounds like alot of "if he didn't miss a game or he hasn't dropped a pass ( three yard passes), almost a school record, if he had a couple pics it would have been better, needs a huge game to have a good season" that doesn't really sound convincing to me as I read it. And with that much talent how there shouldn't be so many checks in the loss column hopefully they do something next year to get up in the W's

  • no stars in milan?
while milan hasnt experienced the sucess we find typical of them, they have turned in quite a few individual performances this season.
tory maritinsen has 707 yards, just 88 away from the school record 795 held by jim perry in 2000 (in 3 more playoff games)
wade raddatz who is a senior is averaging 12-13 tackles a game and is always around the ball
steven price is posting very productive numbers from a tight end and has some of the most sure hands ive seen. dont think he's dropped a ball all. numbers would be better if hed didnt miss cc game with concussion.
arthur dukes is nearing 1000 yards, itll take a big game friday but isnt out of the realm of possiblity
justin aceves, for only starting half the games is having a big year numbers wise, will be even better next year
chase rieberger has been a sure tackler all year and lockdown as a corner, few picks would be nice, but has done the job nonetheless
i think all these guys should be all league candidates and deserve some votes. even in a down year, theres boys that can flat out play football in milan

  • The new voting for the huron league is retarded, seriously who is the moron who came up with this nonsense.

No more awards, what a crock of ish.

  • McCormick is not better at QB than Potcova, get off the train the kid is a sophomore who did fine where he was this year.

Watch Potsy next season post better numbers.

  • Sounds like the Milan kid had a good game on defense hope he is a junior so we can see him next year
French showed again why he is on top. Weakside Lb went over to cover Milan recivers that were supposed to be a threat, and he shut his man down every play including a sack a pick and two tackles for a loss of yards. Not sure on total tackles but only played 1 series in 2nd 1/2.
also Baker was out and airport had #2 safety the whole game #7 solid game
    Airport defense is pretty solid..

  • yeah but the thing is noone will put up the numbers jodeci did every again.. when everyone is pretty equal then the award goes to the best player on the best team
