  • Weclowski actually had 28 tackles and a pick against cc chris, I have never seen one player put a team on his back like weclowski did against cc that game. It's a shame they lossed.

  • The stat #'s game in HS football is laughable. In my prep days there was a linebacker in a local small Catholic school that literally had a tackle on EVERY play (according to the offensive play's against). He had over a 1/3 more than the next closet guy by years end.

If you added up the tackles per game they gave 3 guys credit on EVERY play. They had 4 guys in the top ten in the city!! (Not a slam on Catholics, just a point about HS stats)

So, for the most part spotters in HS can range from good to "HOMER SIMPSON".

To Chris's point, you gotta start somewhere and Maxpreps is as good as any....just depends on who is spotting and taking stats.

Chris...Weclowski was that good, I saw him blow-up GI's "short yardage" back that same year, what a GREAT HIT it was....even I jumped up and celebrated that hit, against my beloved Devils.

  • Weclowski's numbers we're legit that season. I was at 4 or 5 of the Huron games. He was everywhere that season. They ran a 4-3 and the scheme kept blockers off off him in every game I saw. Just ask SMCC, he has 26 tackles that night. His name seemed like it was called every play. He had one of the best high school hits I have ever seen on one of the Falcon RB's.

  • Someone said that Airport May become a state contender someday if they can establish a passing attack.
Even CC had a passing game last year at Ford Field.
Its needed to get to that level of play.

Do you have any clue about HS football stats or the kids that go D1 --> NFL? There are MANY kids that avg 10-12 tackles and have ZERO chance to ever play small college football. And most 1000yd runners will never run the ball again in college. These are HIGH SCHOOL STATS not NCAA or NFL stats they are not even comparable. A fast kid with zero skill can bust out for a ton of yards or a tiny kid with a HUGE heart can get a TON of tackles in HS football. So please stop talking like you have a clue. College's recruit by the intangibles and create players not by statistics.

A lot of HS players have very impressive numbers but most are a bit high because they are called in by coaches not regulated people. But other then Weclowski's tackle numbers a few years ago the Huron League stats seem to be fairly accurate to the games I've seen.

  • All we can do is go by the stats sunmitted by the coaches to the websites of maxpreps and monroe news.

  • I read some of these stats and wonder why half the league players are not going directly to the NFL. With these stats why are some of these teams not ranked top 10 in Michigan?
The stats are as the league is this year. "A FACADE"
    You people kill me.

  • I concur with the picks Chris....they all were strapped tight.

    Couple of other mentions:

-View 22 could have been on the O list....that kid brought it every play, even as a Soph.

-GI "team D"....while they were not great and still coughed-up a big play or two too many, they were certainly very good and VASTLY improved over the last few seasons.

-GI 4 (Nelly) deserves a mention too...his speed and moves were a perfect compliment to Kish. I'll bet most players and coaches in the HL would agree they feared the ball in his hands just as much as Kish....such a dillema for coach B.

Congrats to all on the list....you all provided some great hits, runs, moves, passes, catches, desire and great entertainment on Friday Nights....THANKS!

  • Whoever said Airport is a state contender is wrong. They're definitely a very good team this year but they don't compare to the division 3 powerhouses like EGR, Grand Rapids Christian, OLSM, or Thurston.
