Last season was a historic one for Coach Dan Kalbfleisch and the Huron Chiefs. Huron qualified for the playoffs for the first time in school history. This year the Chiefs need to prove that last season wasn’t a fluke.
Offensively, the Chiefs will be led by RB Shawn Brewer. The rugged senior ran for nearly 400 yards last season as Huron’s third option in the backfield. Senior Ken Phelps will anchor the Huron offensive line.
Defensively, Huron will be led by their linebacking corps of Jordan Frayer, Trevor Zajac and Steve Curnett. Greg Filby will provide speed and experience in the defensive backfield.
Huron opens the season on the road against Erie Mason. The Chiefs won last season’s opener against the Eagles 40-14. The Chiefs will open the league season at home against SMCC in week 2.
