Are You Ready For Some Football?

Now that track season is officially over lets talk some football. We have the Monroe County All Star game coming up in 1 1/2 weeks which will feature players from 6 of the 8 Huron League teams along with the 7 on 7 passing leagues.

Let’s here some chatter on this stuff.

  • I would like to know where every one is getting there info about airport? sure they lost Mays but that is nothing. they are coming out of the "joe show" and are going to be the same dominant team as usual. they have alot more depth in the back field with jones shumake and other that rotate in to keep fresh. they also have the best qb in the league by far. he has a laser arm. then the junior team coming up as a class they have never lost a football game? that says something about heart! there are also 3 returning solid linemen. one is very big and keeps getting bigger while the others are very quick.

  • My two cents:

SMCC will take a step back toward the pack but still remain the best team and program in the league.

Airport lost their best player and a handful of solid kids from a team that was Airports worst in a decade.

Grosse Ile will be better mainly because they have two of the best offensive threats in the league. Defense will be an issue but the league offenses won't be as good as years past.

Riverview lost some solid players including their best defender and a Division I lineman. Riverview will play "D" but will once again struggle to score.

Flat Rock can only get better. They graduated some players but they were on the smaller side. Their junior class is as good as any in the league but will need seniors to step up.

Milan lost a very good coach and will be replacing him with a young up and comer. You don't leave when the cupboard is full. Robb built that program but they will take a step back for a few seasons as the Big Reds rebuild.

Jefferson lost some of the best athletes that school has had in a while. Looks like the long run will be over soon at Jefferson. The winning ways departed some time ago. The Bears will continue to be physical but the bottom half of the league will be common place for the Bears.

Huron will come back to earth. The most accomplished season in Chief history benefited from a down Huron league and was a whopping 6-4. They graduated numerous players including some monsters on the line.

  • WOW!! this is a first I finally agree with SITOFN !! (Which way is the wind blowing this year GI?)

GI will be in the mix with a great O again this year but without a D they will suffer.

I also agree that White and Kish will be against one another for the OPY award.

-Flat Rock will be out of the basement
-Huron will drop quite a bit
-??? for Riverview - Last years team had better individuals. What will this year bring??..
-Milan will have to pull out wins
    -Jefferson about the same
-Airport Will drop a few notches
-CC is the team we all wish to be!!

  • Milan will stuggle to get a win each and every week, 3-6 at best for them. Jefferson surpises as well as the view. Sterg is a heck of a coach. He will get it done.

  • Lots of GI chatter....which I like for sure. HOWEVER, like a broken record I'll keep skipping back to "WHERES THE D"?

No D = No chance for GI to move to HL upper echelon.

White and Kish will be good for sure, I think there might be some line surprises if mental capacity is as strong as physical attributes. Team speed will also be good....always a plus. I don't think this team will suffer from "chest-bump-O-meter itis" either.

SHOW ME THE "D" coach "B"....7 on 7 wins don't mean diddly squat.

GI makes the playoffs when "will before skill" shows up on BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL.

    I look for:
    -Flat Rock to surprise some
-Huron to come back to Earth
    -Make or Break for Riverview
    -Milan chugs along (Good,not great)
    -Jefferson trending better
    -Airport crash landings
-CC to be predictable (i.e. Great)

Should be a very fun and entertaining HL Football season.

  • Players need to stay off the blog. Sure go ahead and read and give yourself some motivation but it's not your job to comment even just to throw in your two cents. Do your talking on the field and ONLY on the field
