  • I would like to set the record straight about Jefferson if I may...I am a proud parent of my children & I also attended Jefferson. I am a fan of this blog & do like to read what people think although I typically don't respond to any of it with the exception of now. I've read all of the responses of the earlier blogs & it makes me question as to whom placed them on both sides Jefferson & CC. I honestly feel none of them were posted by the Varsity Jefferson football players, so that only leaves the fans. This to confuses me due to the fact that I know most of the parents & they to feel the same as I do. Reguardless what others may think or feel we are proud of our children, our community, & the school in which we chose for our children to attend! CC came on the field ready to play & won. No one should come on here & put down any school because the way I see it; as do so many others, a game is a game. There are winners, & unfortunately there are losers. The thing is you may be a great team & have an off day & lose. Does that make you a bad team? I think not! Please don't get me wrong on Friday CC by far was the better team & I am proud to say that! The bears didn't show up to play & that's a fact! In retrospect of this; hind sight is always 20/20. Could this game been different....I think so, but could of, would of, should of, will always be a question. The game is over & a win is a win; & CC deserved the win! Now as for the fans....What was done is done! We as parents need to think before we speak; as we teach our children. We first must show good sportsmen-ship if we expect our children to do so! Trash talking on either side of the field doesn't make someone/ some team better! It just makes the ones whom are talking the trash simply look & sound trashy. It is not a good representation of the school nor the team you wanted to bring up it just brings them both down! So as a parent I suggest we might in the future clean the trash up & give our teams words of encouragement leaving out the trash talking of their opponents....just a thought....Sorry for the book Chris but I just felt I had to speak up.
    Sincerely,
    A Jefferson Alumni & Parent

  • tFor the jefferson fans that are sick of being disrespected I believe the reason why the smcc players are so excited and pumped up about this win is that they had read the whole week about how jefferson was going to smash smcc and they had called them choir boys and pretty boys with daddy's money. in a sense its a heat of the moment thing. so what we all talk trash everyones gonna do it no matter what. In defense to smcc they are always the one getting thrown under the bus saying oh this should be smccs blog or calling us a bunch of catholic school kids that should be perfect. thats completely wrong. most of the kids that attend smcc need financial aid.. they attend because of the catholic education, faith and tradition. there has always been a rivalry between these two schools. im sure between any other schools it happens. so everyone that tries to thrown smcc under the bus for saying that stuff think about what you type before you do it.

  • To all the Jefferson supporters: Looking back over the last 10 days blog comments, Jefferson trash-talk outnumbers the SMCC supporters' comments 2:1. So the bears think that it's ok for them to make repeated comments about how they're going to crush, whip etc the over-confident falcons yet since the loss they complain about SMCC comments? Give me a break. You want SMCC to have more class because they are Christians THEN in the next breath complain about how CC thinks they're better than everyone. Doesn't make sense. Bottom line is fans should be cautiously optomistic about their team. The over-the-top hype about the a**-whooping that the bears were supposed to impose on the falcons now make those supporters look foolish.

Entering and exiting the field, being amongst a crowd near the concession stand, sitting in the stands I have never heard these so called "classless" fans on either side. It's pretty subdued, in my opinion, although it's no secret what everyone's real feelings are.

Jefferson started stirring the pot as soon as it was known that Crockett beat CC. Comments about how the falcons were weak, losers, over-confident whiners are all over the blog. So, honestly, it IS funny that they were so vocal in their confidence yet were so soundly beaten. Maybe these supporters will be more prudent with their comments in the future.

Also, although CC won convincingly, I haven't seen any comments on how Jefferson's whole year will be a losing one as was said about CC's loss to Crockett. Comments like those are irresponsible.

  • And here I've been defending the Jefferson fans saying there's only a few really bad ones writing all the crap, and I still believe it. And the same goes for the SMCC fans. Everyone knows someone from the opposing schools and many of us have relatives from the opposing schools. We know people, and we know good people. There are some that just like to stir things up and do the readers realize that a poster can say they're from ANYWHERE just to start something? Don't believe everything you read! SMCC fans are not garbage, just as Jefferson fans are not beach rats. Actually there are some beach rats that attend SMCC! It's just bullcrap, rivalries just like the jokes a couple days ago, interchangeable to any team, race, creed, color, whatever. If you want to get riled up over it, it's your choice.

  • So I have to ask. Are you showing class by calling someone garbage?

    That's what I thought.

I have an opinion and take it for what it is worth.

On any given day this blog receives anywhere from a 1,000 to 2,000 visitors.

We get a handful of post that non-friendly or like what the last yahoo just posted. I would say we get 5 people at the most writing something like that.

I'm going to try and do some math but remember I was a straight "C" student. If we have 5 yahoo's and 1,000 people minimum a day visiting the site. That would be that .5% of the minimum readership is a yahoo. Make sense?

OK, bear with me here. I can find half a percent of the population that thinks Kwame Kilpatrick is an honest guy, who was a faithful husband and is probably the best mayor the city of Detroit ever had.

My point is, ignore the yahoo's. 99.5% of the fans who support their teams are good people and if your kids went to the same school you would probably be friends.

Now people may ask, "Chris why do you post this garbage"? Well, I'm all about ratings. If I expected people to visit this site because of my musings or observations, I don't think I would have many readers. It's kinda like the "if it bleeds it leads mentality".

Now hopefully I didn't offend people with my honesty here. (well maybe I do expect people to read my stuff because of me, but don't tell anyone right now, I'm making a point) Just remember we are going to get all types on here, (shhh I can help it, it's pretty good stuff) please don't get offended so easily. If you do, walk away and come back an hour. You won't write back what you were originally going to. You will realize it is just a yahoo on the other end.

I don't think that made much sense. Oh well!

  • I have started wearing green and gold underwear, that's the only place those nasty colors should be worn!

  • Notice how the SMCC fans are refering to Jefferson people as "beach rats" That's very christian like, it's it? SMCC may have the best football team, but they don't have any class. I guess going to a private school teaches you to be a hypocrite. Come on, calling people names based on the area the live in, over a football game? Very poor sportsmanship on the fans behalf. CC players show sportsmanship on and off the field. The fans are the ones giving CC a bad rap.
