Scrimmage Comments

If you went out and saw a scrimmage today let us know who you saw and what you thought of the scrimmage.

I went and watched Huron down at Melvindale and then caught Grosse Ile over at Summit Academy.

Huron looked like the could have a solid offense this season. They moved the ball regularly against Melvindale and scored all over Flint Southwestern and Romulus. Defensively the Chiefs struggled with the aerial circus of Melvindale but most every team the Cards face this season will struggle with stopping their offense.

I was able to catch Grosse Ile as they matched up with the Dragons of Summit Academy. Summit wasn’t able to score on the Islanders but moved the ball pretty well with their SMCC Straight-T offense. Grosse Ile scored regularly with the pass against the host but it looked apparent that the Red Devils will miss the departed Dex Teen. To be fair to both teams is was late in the scrimmage and both teams looked a little tired.

The GI/Summit scrimmage was fun to watch as it got a bit chippy with the coaching staffs jawing a bit and the players really getting after each other.

  • Hola! I've been reading your site for some time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Atascocita Texas!
Just wanted to say keep up the good job!

  • Summit Academy is thought of lightly, no one stands behind them at all. They are playing for the game of football. Summit will be a force to be messed with, they need work on the passing game but you have to understand that theyre offense is mostly running (smash mouth football). All around the Scrimmage went good, in Summits eyes they won every game. they held theyre own against teams they shouldnt be on the football field with. But everyone will see Summit Academy in the running for the State title

  • Jefferson did very well against 3 good football teams. They did stumble a bit in the beginning but pulled together and played well as a team. These boys have heart and care about each other. It should be a very interesting year with this team.

  • FR will have some growing pains this year. Didn't look awful at scrimmage- marysville 3 FR 3 -algonac 2 FR 0 - N Branch 1 FR 1 . All 3 teams were twice our size and with the exception of NB had twice our depth. Knoch 2 Blosser 1 Zapata 1 Chickeral dumped a pass off for a score. Defense may be a problem as there were some big gains especially through the air, as well as depth, yhink we had 19 turn out. Guess we ll find out Friday. Better days are ahead.

  • Jefferson held there own against 3 class A schools; Chelsea, Dean, & Pickney. It appeared to me that although they had a rough start the raging bears came together as a team & proved they are a force to be reckoned with! It was impressive to see such a young team show so much heart; It made me wonder if this is what many of your followers last year were talking about? If so Jefferson could possibly see a playoff birth.

  • I am not Chris nor am I a jefferson fan but I do know that Jefferson will be a very tough team to beat. I have them at 5-2 in the league and 6-3 overall. I give them the best chance to beat SMCC. They have a tough stretch of Airport, Milan and Riverview. If they can get through that with a 2-1 record they will get back to the playoffs and maybe surprise somebody. Jefferson has a winning record in the playoffs of 10-8.

  • grosse ile had 3 touchdowns vs summit. one running and two passing, 1 of them was to cameron. idk who the other recivers were since they didnt have numbers

  • how was the white cameron tandem, wasnt able to make the game? chris what are your thoughts about the monroe jefferson team this year after missing the playoffs the last few years
