Well most of the summer work is done and teams are gearing up for the first day of practice on Monday. Most of the schools hold double sessions or two-a-day practices the first week and all teams will be putting on the pads come Thursday. Flat Rock has a nice tradition that started a few years back of having practice at 12 AM on Thursday so the hitting can occur early.
Some of the teams around the league will be holding inter-squad scrimmages as early as Saturday in preparation for their 4-way scrimmages the following week. If you have any inforamtion regarding these scrimmages please let me know. My plans are to get out and see as many of the teams as possible prior to the first week’s action.
Also, look for changes in the blog as early as next week as I look to cover all the fall sports.

Flat Rock has a newer transfer - a speedster (saw him fly in track). Not sure if he plays football but that one would be one to watch - Hollis is his name.

CARLETON — Airport’s home football games may be played on Friday nights after all.
The Jets were forced to change their schedule after the football field light poles were deemed unsafe. Two of the four home games were moved to Friday afternoon and the other two were scheduled Saturday afternoon.
Airport athletic director Rick Grant said Friday the games could be played at the regular dates.
”We just adjusted the football schedule and will play all home games on Friday. The Sept. 24 and Oct. 8 games are currently scheduled for 4, but we are working on securing and getting portable lighting which would move the games to 7. We hope to have all the details worked out by the end of next week,’’ Grant said.........Taken from the Monroe News.
