Week 8 Picks Part I

Flat Rock/Airport: Flat Rock has lost 7 in a row to the Jets. The Rams last won in this series back in 2001. This series dates back to the 1959 season and Flat Rock actually holds an edge in that time having won 26 times and losing 24.

Last week Airport was an angry team and took it out on Grosse Ile. The Jets held the fun and gun of the Islanders to a big goose egg. Airport made it a point to get Jodeci Mays the ball and you will see that trend continue this week against Flat Rock

Flat Rock is hoping a possible return of Joe Conner will help them be competitive against their rivals. The Rams have been playing hard but will once again be under sized against a Huron League opponent.

I don’t expect this game to be close on Friday. Airport is big and fast. Flat Rock is fast but doesn’t have any size. This game will be over early. Airport wins 40-6.

Milan/Riverview: Milan won last years game in a rout 45-6 but the Pirates lead the series since the Big Reds entered the league 5-4. These teams have battled some close game over the last nine years and I think this game will be a good one.

Thus far Milan has proven me wrong this year. The Big Reds reloaded and appear headed to the playoffs. Quarterback Grant Karr has steadily improved each game and the Milan defense is good as usual.

Riverview is coming off of their first win of the year against Huron. The Pirates play good defense and will probably look to force the Big Reds to throw the ball by loading the box on defense. Offensively the Bucs have improved but will probably find running room scarce on Friday.

This should be an excellent matchup between two veteran coaches. I think Riverview could surprise Milan this week but they probably don’t have the speed to pull it off. Look for Milan to pull out a close game 14-10.

  • seriously Riverview only has one win Milan has five. this game will not be close. you'll come out with guns blazing but you forget that our guns are bigger than yores.

  • I'm going to have to go with riverview on this one. Looking back at their leaguee losses those games could have went either way, nobody blew them away except airport, and now with their first win under their belt i'm gonna say riverview 21 milan 7

  • I kind of agree with you, I feel like it will be a closer game...but one that Milan still handles rather easily. They couldnt get the speed going in the rain against cc, so they ran right at them with success. Either way that works, Riverview wont have enough. Ill say Milan 27 Riverview 20
