  • You can't blame the field for a loss. A football team should be ready for any kind of weather, period. Huron pranced and didn't lower their shoulder or try for that much. They went downhill and gave an 0-6 team the first win. View can stop a run but hurons passing is one of the better in the league. if you ask me? they need to alter their technique and quit relying on Sterling, Weclowski, Tavtigan, and Stockert[running/recieving] they need to look at other players with skill instead of playing favorites. Whitehouse sat out most of the games, and hes one of your best lb's and when he came in he stopped alot of runs.... think they notice that? nope cus it will be wilson, brennan, and weclowski starting next week...

to add to my last comment the coaches need to play more than just certain players the jefferson they put in players and they played great alex wellman, jake murphy were back-ups that played better than some of the starters but the coach dont care he plays the kids he likes better

  • GI recap:

    Offense - 0

    Defense - 44

Verdict: embarassing...proof positive that they are not good in bad weather, and now have to prove wether they are a good football team at all....TOP or BOTTOM 4 boys!

Comments on fundamentals are spot on and CLEARLY MAGNIFIED in bad weather. BLOCKING and TACKLING was more like bumping and grabbing. The head coach has to LEAD BOTH of these disciplines and ensure that from womb to tomb. Remember that both teams played in the same slop pit....NO EXCUSES.

I'm one author/fan/parent that has seen his son(s) suffer through 3 demoralizing years of GI football and Friday was a GIANT step back to Oh4 football. Players and coaches both have enough guilt to share on that performance.
We'll see if GI folds the tent or shows up this week against Huron. I don't even have any cute comments to incite the BLOG on this weeks game....the RED DEVILS are in the hot seat here, their level of play is the only thing that can talk now...I can't talk them to victory.

Simple game really, hit or get hit....and GI GOT HIT for 44 unanswered. Get up or stay down, THEY have to decide.

No weather forcast...Obama took NOAA money and gave it to ACORN.

I lied above...something to insite all the guys who missed me during the weekend....if GI finishes with a winning record this year, are all of you GI HATERS (1-8ers) going to apologize for all your winds of change and strap it up negatives. Because 5-4 vs back to back O-9 represents serious Wi....... you get the message.

    SITOFN

  • I couldn't agree more with the GI thoughts of the winds of change. Until GI spends a bit of time teaching BASIC BLOCKING AND TACKLING SKILLS things on GI will NEVER CHANGE. There is a lot of talent there but if there is NO BLOCKING OR TACKLING SKILLS there will never be a win. Yes - this does go back to skills in little league and in middle school - must teach the players skill at that level. I've never been a fan of those naysayers that if kids play little league it burns them out for High School - that's a bunch of malarkey - if they play little league they learn what it takes to play the game - compete in the game and yes - win the game.

  • O.K., I have been waiting all weekend for the weatherman to let us know about the Winds of Change game against Airport. 0 offense and 0 on defense . The winds were about as calm as could be in my opinion. GI was more like a vacuum. Anyway, GI you may talk the talk but you have a long way to go before you will ever be a contender. BASIC MISTAKES that should of been taken care of in little league. Teach you players how to block and tackle then maybe you will get a slight breeze to happen but until then you will be wallowing in the mud.

  • Riverview is, like many have said, better than they're record shows. Look out for the View in a few seasons, they'll be a powerhouse

  • The huron LB had 24 with a broken wrist. Great kid plays with so much intensity. But with the cast i think he's done on off. That hurt Huron some last night. He's a power runner would of helped in the mud.

  • To answer what happened at the View/Huron game. For startes, Riverview is not as bad as their record shows. With the exception of Airport they have been in every game to the finish. They are not a bad football team. Number 2: The mud made it nearly impossible for Huron to go to the air. Riverview has proven all year that they can stop the run. It is why SMCC had trouble with Riverview. Riverview had 2 interceptions in the game. The Cheifs only had 2 plays that worked for them the entire game. One was the draw and the other was a screen. Once Riverview figured out the screen it was over.
