Ali Saad: The running back from Riverview ran for 208 yards on 32 carries while leading the previously winless Pirates to a 23-3 victory over Huron. The win avenged last years 41-0 drubbing. What a difference a year makes!
Michael Howey: The senior signal caller from SMCC led the Falcons to a 25 -13 win over Milan by rushing the ball just 6 times for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
Jodeci Mays: The junior running back from Airport and the likely Huron League Offensive Player of the Year winner rushed for four touchdowns and 231 yards on 21 carries as the Jets pounded Grosse Ile 44-0.
Bryan McCullough: The towering junior running back ran for 115 on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns while leading the Bears to a 34-12 win over Flat Rock.
Dan Chickeral: The senior leader for the Flat Rock Rams rushed for 74 yards and threw an 11 yard touchdown pass while recording 19 tackles from his safety position in the Rams loss to Jefferson.
Jake Sterling: The junior did a little bit of everything in the Bears win over Flat Rock last night. Sterling rushed for 96 yards and threw a touchdown pass. He also recorded 9 tackles on defense while also handling the kicking duties for coach Cisco’s team.
Michael Pannone: The junior safety from SMCC recorded 13 tackles and had a fumble recovery in the Falcons key win over Milan.

CC's backs are studs..and with an above average O-Line that is actually small compaired to most they have three studs who will all be back next year,Burkhart and Collins should be mentioned evrytime a CC back make player of the week, these boys do not get their due and CC's D-Line is just ok,they get no pressure on the QB and are ok against the run.
Here is something to think about, Huron started this season 2-1, calling the win against Jefferson the biggest in school history. Next week they play like crazy against SMCC and lose by 1 pt. But after that, they still only need to beat the worse 3 teams in the league to qualify for the playoffs, and something happened to make them absolutely give up. I dont know what that could be, but I know damn well part of it's coaching and part of it's leadership. Huron needs something different there, you have been built into a 3 or 4 win program, now you need someone to take it to a playoff program. That coach has been there a pretty long time to do nothing. And I know Huron has talent, look at their basketball and wrestling teams, not to mention just the football players they have in general. Something there has got to change, I remember running their scout team offense and it felt like I was playing xbox with all the random stuff they did. Huron, if you ever want a school playoff birth, something different has got to happen there.
CC's "stable" of backs are by no means average.. that comment makes you look silly. Yes the line has much to do with a running back's succes but to call Howey, Lovell, Cusumano, Lamour and Labeau average is just wrong.
Pannone(ALL REGION) how are you going to take shots at a player who made all region as a soph? Again, it makes you sound silly. I will agree that the best part of his game is not pass defense, it is stopping the run. I am just waiting on him to grow... I am going to say by start of football next year he will be 6ft 190lbs. they will probably move him to LB if that happens with Moore and LaPlante.... Try running on that LB corps!!
Congrats to Riverview for finally getting a win but in regards to "what a difference a year makes", well in regards to this game vs Huron, yes, but in regards to the season??? They are 1-6 (same as last year at this time), kids are unhappy (some even quitting), parents are complaining. Looks pretty much the same as last year. And how does Huron come within 1 point of beating far and away the best team in the league and then collapse like this?? Huronleaguefootball you are doing a great job with this blog, keep it up.
every kid prepares to go to the playoffs....doens't mean it's gonna happen..that is why they don't keep track of huron league jv records, and huron league jv stats...if those mattered you'd hear about it..it doesn't..
SMCC has AVG,off.& deff. backs thats it.Who makes them look good is there great off. & deff.lines.They should be the one's you should be talking about.pannone will not be going to the next level as a DB sorry.
When the huron kids were freshmen and sophs they still played for Dan's coaching staff. When these seniors were freshmen, they beat Airport and lost to Jefferson. Was that coaching? Weren't these kids like 5-4 as freshmen? That was
WITH Jim Barber, Gary steffes, and Anthony Taylor who left. Also, I know EVERY kid at Airport was working out in the offseasons in that time while Dan was just trying to keep these three in school let alone trying to get them to work out for football.
Not so fast! When the seniors at Huron were freshmen, kids like Mays and Pannone and many other good players in the league were in the 8th grade. Most really good freshmen move up to JV. Dan kept his freshmen together so they could win. He wanted to build confidence. Maybe he built over confidence or false hope. Who knows! As a parent ask yourself a question. After the SMCC game did you criticize the coaching in front of your kid? If you did and only you know that answer. You cut his legs out from underneath him.
Dan means well, us parents can see that, it is just absolutely sickening when we watched our kids win as freshman, and sophomores, then when junior n senior year comes around, they get killed. Why? They used to play the same teams and whoop on them.. the ONLY difference is the coaching staff.
Its just hard to sit back and watch your kid be miserable through football season when this should be the best time of their life, and they have been preparing for 6 years together to go to the playoffs.
in regards to cameron being a star, the post was referring to his selection as such during the SMCC game when GI lost by 37. airport did not "shut down" the passing attack, there were only two attempts by grosse ile the entire game because of the conditions so unless Zeus is wearing the blue and yellow i think you're wrong.
