Week 2 Thoughts

Just some idle thoughts and/or questions on the league games this week.

Will SMCC score on a kick or punt return this week?

Will Jefferson’s Bryan McCullough carry the ball every play this week?

Will Huron have visitors bleachers or will Airport fans have to sit on a hill?

Will Grosse Ile have any practices this weekend or do the Islanders all go away for the extended weekend?

Will SMCC throw a single pass this week? Will Flat Rock? Will Jefferson?

Who is the best back in the league?

Is SMCC’s Howey a QB or a signal caller?

Who is faster in the 40? Teen? Mays? or Conner? How about Lamour? Who? Andrew Lamour

  • Milan didn't "crush" Flatrock. They will have there hands full next week at Airport. And SMCC barley topped Riverview. Some of you people need to watch these games, rather than sit here and chirp about who going to "crush" who.

  • I know that the other games versus Tecumseh were more lopsided, I guess my point was that if they quit playing Airport because they were getting whooped they would have done it sooner.

And as far as the SEC being head and shoulders better. The schools in that league have many more students than those in the Huron League. According to the enrollment numbers on http://www.michigan-football.com, only two schools (Tecumseh and Chelsea) are smaller than the Huron League's biggest (Airport) and it's by less than 100 students. And with that many more students, they probably should be a little better.

But as it stands, I will take the Huron League's physical style of ball over the SEC's any day of the week.

  • Airport always plays average/bad in their first game. Hell one year I remember after barely beating tecumseh week one they drew them first round and beat them like 48-7.

    j.w.

  • Airport v. Tecumseh

The history goes farther then 3 seasons.

    2007 Airport 7-0
    2006 Airport 14-7
    2005 Airport 34-27
    2004 Airport 29-0
    2003 Airport 22-0
    2002 Airport 14-13
    2002 Airport 42-7 (Playoffs)
    2001 Tecumseh 20-8
    2000 Airport 49-14

That's a record of (7-1) in the regular season and (8-1) overall since the teams started playing each other again. TBH, Tecumseh knew they needed to play another team if they had a chance to start their season 1-0.

SEC is probably head and shoulders better then the Huron League, but it does seem that the Huron League teams fair pretty well against the SEC.

(Before Milan came to the Huron League, they pretty much owned the SEC)

SEC teams that probably win the Huron this season:

    Adrian
    Ann Arbor Pioneer
    Chelseas
    Saline

  • So much for Jefferson manhandling GI. The Devils are going to be something to be reckoned with, if it weren't for a few missed tackles, the islanders would be 2-0 with a huge upset under them heading into Riverview for the Colvin Cup.

  • Everyone has this big hype about who the best back is in the game. Who cares I dont care if you put LT in the backfield if you dont have a line to block then what good is it? Just like i seen someone say it is a team effort! As for the Gi Jefferson game, Jefferson did underestimate because they have not beat us in years. I will give it to them they got better with out a doubt but gi hasnt won enough to know how to control a win so when they got all pumped and thought they had it in the bag jefferson played for all 48 mins of that football game and played with 2 major thing. TEAM and HEART!! Thats what jefferson has they may not be the biggest but they have the biggest haearts! No one ever says anything about jefferson and always thinks down on them but they have something special this year just be ready.
